Some reports about the new firmware v1.01.15 build42. It obviously fixes a so called NAT-loopback (hairpinning) issue. The described problems above might be related to that. Says also that the WLAN improved. Several posts above complained about the WLAN of the box. Nevertheless, rebooting the box here does not trigger a firmware upgrade. http://sacha.horovitz.ch/mapping-de-...ec-salt-fiber/

From 2 days ago (19-02-19). I have the new firmware v1.01.15 built 42 installed in my Salt Fiber Box. The Nat LoopBack become possible and more stability and better Wifi. Thank you for this new Firmware. The 10G light speed Fiber Box finally becomes really usable. Cool ;-)
Anyway, AFAIK the salt box uses the google DNS-Servers, what was confirmed on twitter or facebook once I think. But you can't make settings for the DNS in the salt box itself, its practically burnt in. My suggestion is, in the network properties, to set the "DNS-Server address" manually to the salt box, that is, default 192.168.1.1 (you can change that in the salt box in network=>LAN).
Instead of using the usual setting "Obtain DNS Server automatically" https://www.webnots.com/how-to-chang...in-windows-10/
You might give a try.
I had a similar problem a while ago and that helped.

That's what I did but never succeed to get good results or performance
with the Asus Card even my PC is directly connected to the Box with a CAT7 cable.

Can your system itself handle 10gb/s (I mean I can hang a 10gb/ps card in my computer, but still no way it can process that speed.)

So yeah, maybe report it as well if you have same problem with this firmware so the tech team realize it is a shitty version | | | | |
Has got a new episode, it looks Salt finally realized. Here: http://sacha.horovitz.ch/mapping-de-...ec-salt-fiber/ , see comments, at least 2 people report they were downgraded from firmware v1.01.15 build42 to the old v1.01.14 build37 , without any notification.
Might raise some questions about the competence of Salt. |

| | Re: Salt Fiber Box | Quote: | | | | | We are experiencing exactly the same problems... also with the new firmware. I called support, they opened a ticket, got back to me with many questions, haven’t heard back from them thereafter... | | | | | Over the last couple of days the Salt Fiber support worked quite closely with me, texting me, calling me and today the support guy even personally called to check if the problems are going.
The issue indeed got better and better and as of the last few days we don't seem to have any delays anymore.
During this process, the firmware was updated from v1.01.14 to v1.01.15 build42. But I only realised this today.. so I am not sure whether this is linked or not.

I'm seriously considering halving my Internet and TV costs, dumping my Swisscom 95CHF/Month for the 40CHF/month Salt (I am a mobile Salt customer).
My two questions are:
1. Would you make the shift from Swisscom to Salt fibre again, knowing what you know now - having made the switch X months ago?
2. Does Salt offer Pay Per View services for sports? I like the Swisscom 5CHF per game option - which I use every now and then. I know Salt is throwing in 3 months free Sky Sports if u subscribe before end of March, and thereafter 20 CHF/month. But its not the same as being able to pick and choose which games you want to watch and only pay for them, every few months.

On second thought, sounds illogical, no? SaltFiber+Skysports=60 CHF/mt vs. Swisscom 95 CHF/mt, but still with the "bonus" for additional payperview?
Anyway, there seems to be a cooperation between Salt and Sky. Sky (Sports) offers a daily pass, for 9.90CHF however. As this sports fuss is not my cup of tea, I can not tell how well or if at all this offer is integrated in Salt TV. Since they use the AppleTVBox my guess is, there is probably an app for that.
As for the switch most has been said already in this thread.

How long does the activation take if there’s no fiber plug in the flat? The website says 5 weeks, is that accurate, or they say 5 weeks just in case?

Quick update on my switch to Salt:
Things are going well, for a while there was a regular break in speed for about five minutes at either 9pm or 10pm on weeknights, but that has cleared up without any change on our part.
Very happy with their service, except in one area: I've just asked for the third or fourth time for me to receive my bills electronically, rather than mailed in paper form. The first time was when I ordered the service in a Salt store.
Let's see if it works this time - while I can see the bills online in my dashboard, there is no place there to even see in which form your bill will be delivered, let alone set it yourself (the last call centre tech I spoke to said it "might be a feature coming in the future, but at the moment it is not possible" - yeah, I knew that myself without asking ...). | Quote: | | | | | I'm seriously considering halving my Internet and TV costs, dumping my Swisscom 95CHF/Month for the 40CHF/month Salt (I am a mobile Salt customer).
My two questions are:
1. Would you make the shift from Swisscom to Salt fibre again, knowing what you know now - having made the switch X months ago? | | | | | I'd definitely do it, for a few reasons:
* the changeover was relatively easy for me,
* they will waive their monthly rental for up to two months in the 'transition' to cover you having to pay for a previous service until a date after the Salt start date,
* the price was far superior, and even the Swisscom rep I spoke to in the store admitted that there was no way they could match that price over the long term (despite lots of short-term discount/bonus offers),
* some of the playback features are superior (for example, you can scroll through the ads until you reach the point where the show resumes, and click there to skip ads), &
* the speed ... the glorious speed! | Quote: | | | | | 2. Does Salt offer Pay Per View services for sports? I like the Swisscom 5CHF per game option - which I use every now and then. Hello,
First I have to thank you for this usefull information. I think about mooving from Swisscom, but I use some features on their box like static routes (for communication between openvpn clients and lan machines), automatic port forwarding (UPnP IGP) and schledule Wifi.
I would like to know if the salt box has this features ?
Another questions I got are :
what's the point of dyndns feature if the external IP is static as written in Salt FAQ ?
Does someone manage to get Salt TV work with Zattoo PVR plugin in Kodi (should ne possible as told in github page of the plugin) ?
Thanks by advance for your answers !

Automatic port forwarding: no. You can however declare manually a large range of ports and has some predefined templates (e.g. Battle.net).
Schedule WiFi: yes, kind of. You can define a schedule and then enable/disable specific services for each schedule. E.g. you allow POP3/IMAP email, but not browsing between specific times. I see there's also a checkbox for all TCP traffic, so that probably serves the purpose. All in all, it's much more granular than just "take WiFi down" and "bring WiFi up" at specific times. | Quote: | | | | | Another questions I got are :

Thanks by advance for your answers ! | | | | | DynDNS: you might not want to remember the IP address all the time and instead resort to an easy to remember hostname (thus less of the "dynamic" part in DNS, but rather classical DNS).
Salt TV with Kodi: yes, it works (or at least it did, last time I tested).

Hello all!
I have a Swisscom subscription for 95 CHF/month and I was thinking about this Salt Fiber offer. I was wondering: do I have to call Swisscom to quit my subscription with them? Or will Salt handle everything? Thank you.

Salt claims they will handle everything for you. But I still sent a registered letter to swisscom to cancel my subscription - just to be sure.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have experience with sharing a USB drive through the Salt Fiber router? I connected a USB hard drive to my router and I can see it in my Windows Explorer but there are two problems:
1. I can only see pictures - no other files are visible.
2. I cannot paste anything to the USB drive.
Any advice on these two issues? Thanks!

Hi - yesterday was an year I had Salt Fiber and I cannot complaint at all. I think I had a down once for few hours, despite that is rock solid and really really fast.
I have a quick question: do you guys know how to do ZAPPING on salt TV?
Is quite annoying that to change channel I have to go inside channel list, because is not possible to go to the next channel using the remote.
Edit: I know is possible to go next channel taping/touching the high-right corner of the apple remote, and going in the previous one with low-right corner, but I was wondering if is possible to do it with a normal TV-remote, I'm not using the apple one. |

I second that. Having Salt Fiber since 9 months, i can confirm it is rock solid. I counted just one single outage that didn't even last 1 hour.
As for the remote see my bottom quote. An alternative remote for Salt TV was announced (by Salt) for "june", so soon hopefully. Might be able to perform your task. On the other hand my guess is that also other remotes can do the job, probably a matter of proper research among the compatible stuff. | Quote: | | | | | Salt announces upgrades for the Salt TV

My apartment building did not have a fiber connection originally, but Salt came and set it up, without additional costs. I am not really a fan of Salt (I am also using Salt Mobile and it is a whole other story), but credit where credit's due, Salt Fiber is a solid deal.

So I'm most likely moving, and would have loved to take my salt fibre with me.
Sadly, the new house won't have fibre for another year or so...
Has anyone been through a similar process? Will Salt provide isdn/adsl or some other horribly slow copper-based service until such a time that fibre is available?
I'll call salt when I can...
