Re: Salt Fiber Box

Salt fiber breakes the 100'000 customers threshold. Congrats, well done:
https://www.salt.ch/media/press/file...stomers_EN.pdf

Two blog entries (german) concerning salt fiber, dealing around IPv4 and IPv6 and "access from outside":
https://temporaryswiss.ch/salt-fiber...z-ipv6-dslite/
https://temporaryswiss.ch/schritt-fu...pping-servers/

Slight change in the activation fees. (Only actually?) activation fee is 1 CHF, but another 48.95 CHF asked for a "TV-Activation". So I guess, without ordering the Apple TV box (for free), you wan't be able to have Salt TV over apple at all. Also wondering if in such case one will be able to use at least the Salt TV over browser alone. I guess not ...
You have to enter the "check address" process in order to see it.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Hello,

I'm having a hard time finding information about the LTE part of the fiber box (here or on the Facebook community group).
In the admin console it says (I believe) that you need to plug a USB dongle but that's all. No spec, nothing in user manual.

Did any of you manage to have a 3G/4G usb dongle working on the fiber box ?
If yes, which model and does it automatically use that LTE connexion in case of fiber problem ?

I'm trying with a Huawei E3372 but so far without success.

Thanks !

Hi all,

I have a problem with this router, as I am unable to connect it to my WIFI 6 router using the 10Gbps port.

My router (Asus XT8) has a 2.5Gbps WAN port that works correctly if I connect it to a normal 1Gbps port of the salt router, but does not work when connecting to the 10Gbps port.
I have the exact same issue. I tried every possible (?) solution and setup but no luck. After I tried with another router from my friend (different brand) and it worked immediately. It looks like Asus (or this model at least) is not compatible.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

I apologise if the issue has been already treated.
My Salt Fiber subscription has recently been activated and, initially,
everything was working as expected.
Suddenly, after a few days, the "5Ghz" Wifi connection has disappeared and I am now left with the 2.4 Ghz only.
No way to have it back, despite several reboots of the box.
Contacted the hotline, but after 3 days, no solution yet.
Any idea/suggestion?

Had the same issue, ultimately used another wifi access point to handle my wifi much better

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Hello guys,

I wanted to ask you if someone had an experience with moving Salt subscription to a new address. I have recently moved and called Salt on the 31st of August to tell them. The desired date of activation at the new address was on the 17th of September. I know they say you need to tell them 60 days in advance, but in Geneva it's quite impossible given that you take your apartment maybe 15 days in advance tops! Anyway, the guy on the phone said he would indicate the 17th anyway and see how it went. Of course, it's the 18th and I still have connection at my old address. The real thing is that I don't have anything from them, not a confirmation email, nothing on my page on their website (it still shows my old address). Do you think I should call again or is this normal? Thanks!

Yes sure, I'd call them at least once a day until I get a clear answer and/or ping them via twitter (@SaltMobile_Care) or facebook.

Bonne chance & please let us know how it went!

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Thx Saltix. Quick update, after calling them on Friday, they confirmed they had the ticket active and today I received a mail saying they received my request and will process it (just 21 days after calling them the first time!). Let's see if they are quicker now!

I can confirm this, up to 10 days back with frequent/occasional hiccups in browser or app site resolution. IMO a clear DNS issue; changing it in your device didn't help here. But seems to be OK again now. IMO a minor but still annoying issue. Simple countermeasure was a F5 / reload, in one occasion I even needed to restart the AppleTV box.

There was quite a venting on twitter with stupid and late statements by salt, so a widespread issue I think, but on the other hand it's hard to judge how much incompetence on the users side unable to reboot/reload was present here or if it was mistaken with simple WLAN problems.

This issue is ongoing for me. The reason changing dns doesn’t fix the issue fully is because most devices will try ipv6 dns. Unfortunately the salt box gives us no way of turning off dhcpv6. I’m running a seperate dhcp server for ipv4 and my own dns server. Turning off ipv6 on the client works but is not possible on some devices.

Please salt give us access to dhcpv6 controls.
And please let us change the dns settings for dhcp.

I suspect the router struggles when it gets a lot of dns requests, it’s internal resources are probably already stretched achieving Nat for 10gbit. I’ve noticed the dns issues mainly present when my work laptop is on (my work laptop makes the most dns requests by a huge margin)

I also experience some dns-issues actually, but minor and occasionally, takes some seconds to resolve, IMO only moderately annoying, sometimes I have to reload.

As for IPv6 I don't think it's the core of the issue. As far as I can judge, early adopter got an IPv4, like me, never changed, and no IPv6 is assigned. Contrary, new subscribers get an IPv6 only I think. Seems that for +10CHF you could get an IPv4 from salt. But I doubt this would solve any issues that can't be fixed by other means/settings.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Hello

I have just subscribed to Salt Fibre and have a question about about the Apple TV Box.

It this a special version of the Apple TV 32gb 4k box or a standard version?

Reason for asking is that only 2 weeks ago I purchased an Apple TV 32gb 4k box and am wondering if I can use this Apple TV in another room etc and get access to the full Salt TV service.
Many thanks.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

AFAIK it is a standard version. After 12 months subscription it will be entirely your property. According to the salt homepage up to 5 streams are allowed, so yes it should work to use it in another room. Even salt has the option on subscription to purchase additional ATV Boxes beside the "free" one.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

+1 for the standard version: https://fiber.salt.ch/en/fiber/equipment/apple-tv == https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-tv/apple-tv-4k

You can use it with any ISP by the way (for example on holiday, at the hotel, but only in Switzerland due to the geoblocking, or with VPN, etc.), you just need to make sure to have the Salt TV app and to login in with the corresponding credentials. So no problem to use your second appleTV with your salt TV credentials.
