Missing something?????

Hello, can someone tell me what is missing here?

Internet router connected via the purple cable with no issue.
The numbers below are connections in each room. Try and connect with LAN for the tv box from the router to number 1. But tv box located in the living room is dead. Laptop is dead also. What am i missing here? Somesort of switch?

Re: Missing something?????

The picture leads me to believe you've got the router in the cabinet. If so, you'll need to patch from the ports on the router to each room.

Does the wireless work? Does it also work when you close the door on the cabinet?

Presumably ruskasinthehouse was reading by cellphone and the tram hit a bump.

Otherwise I don't think there's anything particularly groanworthy in my response. I can always improve on that, if need be.

Yap, good idea, obviously they know more than the rest of us and should not be disturbed while they solve it on their own. I mean what could they possible want from an experienced network engineer???

yes, the modem is in the cabinet and working fine, with door closed. is only when I connect from the router to the house installation that nothing works, not even a laptop.
This leads me to believe that
house installation is not done properly/not working or i'm missing something to connect from the modem/router to the house installation.

Have you verified that the router ethernet ports actually work by plugging your laptop straight into the router?

Groan me again and I'll stop.

Re: Missing something?????

Unlike JagWaugh, I'm not an experienced network engineer, but it does kinda look like there should be cables connected to the ports 1-5 along the bottom. How else is the box connected to the other rooms?

Why don't you start by acting on the advice you've been given?

Re: Missing something?????

Looks like you are patching to the the telephone sockets.
Read the manual which sockets are data and which are phone and than patch accordingly.

And you're patching from the router ethernet ports to the lower white jacks on the MCS, and plugging into the ethernet jacks on the far end?

https://www.zidatech.ch/de/downloads...cs_modular.pdf

With most universal cabling systems you don't normally need the special "Y" cables for straight ethernet-ethernet.

In your place I'd be figuring out how to remove that groan.

As a matter of fact, I'd have removed it a long time ago.

Re: Missing something?????

It has happened to me as well. Its difficult to thank people when reading on your phone and the groan and thanks buttons are too close together. I had no idea i groaned instead of thanked until i got a pm asking for the reason. Oups!

Try connecting your laptop directly to the router with both patch cables you are using. This will verify that your patch cables are ok.

Then try patching your laptop through to the other 3 rooms with the UCS and those two patch cables.

There is a slight chance that someone has messed up the UCS by reconfiguring the cabling (idiots abound).

There is also a chance that this particular UCS needs specially configured patch cables - ask your Landlord/Hauswart, they should provide them if this is the case.

Have you got a second laptop/ethernet device?
