Problem with Salt when left Switzerland

Hello,

Please help me figure out if I have any chance to win in following situation..other than give up and pay Salt..

What happened?
I was happy subscriber of 1 year contract for mobile internet from Salt. (30CHF/mt)

My contract was due to 15 March this year and I had left Switzerland end of February.

I was paying invoces by UBS e-bill but closed this account end of March.

Just in case i have contacted Salt in April if all is fine on my side. They replied that they converted my contract to open end with two month notice period... so to 15 July...

(my fault I thought, it was probably somewhere in contract).

I asked them to send me bills by e-mail then... and then things got complicated

Some bills were not send and reminders were not send. They send me another bill in Juny but it was including only July payment w/o outstanding payments.

I tried my best to pay, then in July i got end invoice for about 200CHF with fees for late payments etc...

Then my question comes...
1) can they really extend my contract if I was no longer in Switzerland and can no longer use their services?
2) are those all fees valid if invoices and reminders were not delivered to my email?

I really want to be free from them.. but I am not happy to pay almost 300CHF for services which i do not wanted anymore...

Thanks!
Pawel

1) Did you cancel by sending a registered letter and notify them on your leaving? If not, they can

1. Yes
2. Depends and should be looked at per bill.
3. Don't know where you are now, but throughout at least Europe all of these contracts turn into open end unless properly cancelled, so read your current contract.

With Salt you can look at your account online and pay by credit card, so the whole palaver sounds like it could have been relatively easily avoided...

Ok thank you...

So seems like it is just my fault and ignorance, nothing else then paying from my pocket then

So how was Salt supposed to find out that you had left Switzerland and wanted to cancel the contract? Their customer service has a pretty lousy reputation, but this time I'm on their side.

Actually not needed by registered letter. You can do it with them by phone to their customer service and they confirm by SMS (btdt).

The SMS confirmation is sufficient proof.

Of course if the OP didn't do that either.....

Re: Problem with Salt when left Switzerland

I naively thought that it is just one year contract... just after one year finished i wrote to them that i left and checking if my saldo is zero... then i learn that it is extended

correct, perhaps all was in contract and i should read it carrefully. however there are companies with more customer friendly approach..

once i join to amazon prime trial and forgot about that (cannot use it in my country)... half year later i saw expenses in my credit card so i call them and cancel. they canceled it immediately and even give me back all what i have already paid. brilliant

Re: Problem with Salt when left Switzerland

Recently a lot of salt.ch contracts are 24 months, I have not see a 1 year contract being offered for most of their offerings.. they do have limited 12/1 month contracts on some of their offerings, But their best values they want to lock you in for 24 months or 2 years it seems.. Best Luck
