When I change phone, I simply reset the old one and sell it or give it to wife.
Just reading through this thread because my OH has been away for a few days and broken his phone. He's bought a new one, and informed me that when he gets home tonight, he's giving me the new phone (because it has a better camera) and he'll take over my current one. I should be grateful, but my angst is palpable and increasing by the hour.

Two years ago, he bought us matching phones and tablets for Christmas, which is such a typically geek gift. My tablet is still in the box. I feel your pain McTavge.

Re: Technophobe needs to get out of Jurassic Era!

Update: I can make my phone yodel (it is meant to be a Smartphone after all), I have discovered that WhatsApp is not an Australian greeting of some kind, but allows me to have video calls with my lad in Scotland and my wee lass when she's out in the jungle (Geneva city centre!), I have found great addresses while exploring Thun and as I was bloody useless at asking for directions in Swiss-German, various GPS and maps were most useful.
Spotify is not a lotion to get rid of black spots but it can select for you the most groovy yodels around...see, progress.

And yes, I still keep my phone in a flat toiletry bag freebie I got from Coop because I can't be arsed to look for a cover!

Wow! You are progressing McTAVGE. I don't have a phone and have no intention of getting something I don't need. Landline does what I want phone-wise for me.
