Buying Camera in the US

Hello,

Has anyone purchased cameras from bhphotovideo and have the camera delivered to Switzerland.
How has their service been?
Would there be issues with warranty?

I was thinking of getting an Nikon z7

Re: Buying Camera in the US

Not nearly as expensive as a camera, but I did order a small item from them on 26 December. It was shipped by DHL Saver with a tracking number the following day, and delivered on 7 January.

Why would you want to order from the US?

Even if you got free shipping, the price is $3400 for the body. Add 7.7% Mwst and you're at 3640 CHF. The same camera is 3692 CHF here with 3 year local warranty (you'd get 1 year in the US).

Cheapest is not always cheapest once you paid for transport, VAT, customs duties etc etc, especially if you calculater differently from the authorities.

Re: Buying Camera in the US

That Austrian deal though.
3199 EUR minus 20% VAT is 2559 EUR or 2918 CHF.
Add 7.7% Swiss VAT comes to 3143 CHF plus whatever shipping and customs expenses there may be. Around 400 CHF saved comparing to Swiss or US prices.

Re: Buying Camera in the US

in Switzerland 3800chf only for the body
plus lens you will be minimum in the range I indicated...
Buy out of Switzerland pay the Swiss MWST get EU VAT refund or dont even pay VAT if they ship to Switzerland and you will always save a few hundreds...

- Nobody was talking about lenses.
- Body is a little under 3.700,- CHF as we told you already.

Besides that people who buy this body often have a lens set from their previous cam, and even if they only have one lens they wasted money on this body by getting one such relative cheap lens as you "propose"

Re: Buying Camera in the US

for a new camera buying from the USA to ship here = no warranty which usually the price isn't less either to be honest

If you were flying over, then the shop is a mecca for photographers, but to have it shipped? What if it's dead on arrival?

A lot of hassle unless there was a huge price difference

Nikon have a worldwide warranty, I am sure others do too. Nikon CH fixed a Nikon I shipped from Hong Kong free of charge even when out of warranty.

I don't know about Canon but I was told the warranty was country specific unless you could show you had moved. That is why in the USA exports are "grey"

Maybe nikon is different

On some of their products they grant a worldwide one yr warranty, I have not checked but would expect a z7 to be one of these products.
