Sunrise TV box issues

We've had a Sunrise TV box since we arrived in Switzerland last year. It worked OK for a couple of months, but then suddenly the subtitle function stopped working. Support tried to help but to no avail, and in the end they said we'd have to do a complete reset - which would wipe out hundreds of hours of recordings we had built up. So...we tried to live without subtitles (we often struggle to hear dialogue in drama series). Now the box has also started having stuttering/freezing issues with recordings.

Has anyone experienced similar issues, and does anyone have any less radical solutions than a full reset?
