5G: internet with Sunrise or other

Does anyone using 5G?
I am moving to Brunnen in Schwyz and I have 2 option for internet.

1/Sunrise 5G with an HTC 5G hub (hotspot)

or

2/ADSL (50Mb/s)

I wonder if 5G is stable, faster than ADSL.
I want to use the connection at home.

Sunrise is not able to help. I am afraid to go with 5G (and been lock for 2 years) only to discover it's not working.

Re: 5G: internet with Sunrise or other

5G is a shared medium: The "aether".
ADSL is a dedicated medium: The POTS copper wire.

ADSL might be more stable. But 5G might offer better speed and connection even when it is congested.

PS: Are you sure you have no WWZ cable TV or even FTTH connection in your apartment? Seems to be odd (specially no WWZ) or you are living really outside
up in the hills.

You can check (sorry it is in German too) at this website what is offered at your address through which path (copper, real fiber/Glassfaser, or cable tv/coax)
https://www.dschungelkompass.ch/fest...Internet.xhtml

Real fiber is normally open access, and like with copper/ADSL you can chose from different providers.

Re: 5G: internet with Sunrise or other

You have to question if you really need 5G? It is much faster, true, but you're unlikely so see or feel the difference between that and 100mb. We upgraded to a 1gb line from a 100mb line with Swisscom, and if I'm brutally honest I don't see a lot of difference other than in our monthly bill!!

Re: 5G: internet with Sunrise or other

Sunrise offered me a few months ago and one year free trial of their 5g service. I already have ADSL.

1. There's no difference in speed. Overall, ADSL is slightly better. I've been told this might be that I'm not using a very highspeed ethernet cable. But already my connection is fast enough for anything I want to do.
2. The 5G router is way too loud. You cannot have it running 24/7 in your living room. It runs hot as well, and takes up more room than the router Sunrise supply with fixnet.

I'm hanging on to the 5g router to the end of the trial - just in case at some point the fixnet line goes down.

Re: 5G: internet with Sunrise or other

Thank you all for your help.
I decided to keep ADSL with the same speed in the new apartment because fiber should come in Jan or Feb and because the relocation don't cost me anything. It's also cheaper than 5G

again thank you.
