Salt rant

I signed up with Salt Fibre optics. Service is fantastic.

Their billing is not.

All bills I have received so far state that "The amount of CHF (amount) will be debited on (date) from your bank account."

The bill does NOT show my account number from which they should debit the amount, maybe that should've left me puzzled?

Anyway, I thought I have to do nothing. Next month I receive a bill including a warning that I'd be cut off should I not pay by (date).

So I wanted to pay immediately, however they provide the following payment details:

Postal account : 01-00145-6
Reference number : 27 xxxxx 00000 00000 xxxxx xxxxx
Total amount to pay : CHF 49.95
In favour of : Salt Mobile SA, CH-1020 Renens 1
If I have a Postfinance account, that'd all not be a problem. However with a "normal" bank account I would need the IBAN. Which isn't shown anywhere on the bill.

So the only option was to pay by credit card. All fixed, so I thought everything will come to a smooth conclusion now.

But no - next month's bill sais the same as before (..."we will deduct"...), but no deduction until today, 10 days after the given date.

I checked online, there's no way to enter payment details in the user self-serve area.

Does anyone have a solution, or will I really have to go through so called "customer service"?

Well, I did download the direct debit form, sent it to the bank, and it's confirmed on the bill that it will be used.


Except it's not.

At least with a "normal" UBS account you don't need the IBAN to pay such an "orange payment slip" bill by e-banking. You just need to enter 01-00145-6, salt mobile sa, and the reference number.

oops, thanks, that actually works


Still strange that they don't deduct, but at least like this it's not a total mess anymore.

This is highly possible, we filled one out recently and it stated that it may take a couple of months to be implemented and we may receive bills to pay in the meantime.

My only complaint with Salt Fiber is the billing, as well. I had the minor problem that, rather than an email notification of my bill (which I requested and the person in the store confirmed when I set up the account) I received a printed bill in the mail (which cost an extra 2 francs). Three times I had to call them up and "fix" it with their call centre before it was finally fixed. I also suggested to the call centre people that they should have an option to manage your billing on the website, where at the moment all you can do is see past bills (and whether or not they've been paid), but apparently that might be "coming later" ... maybe ...

Still it's all good now, and I receive email bills which both save paper and don't cost me an extra 2 francs.

I did not try direct debit but in salt fiber you can pay upto 200 CHF more than invoice amount. So basically I make payment once in 5 months.
