Swisscom Internet light Box

Last year the phone system in Baden was upgraded from POTS to VOIP. As a result I got an internet box off Swisscom, the Internet Light box.

This box has been a pain in the proverbial. The line regularly drops and the LED goes from white to red and the box needs to be rebooted. When I had the old connection it just worked.

Does anyone else have issues with this box or does anyone know a workaround? I’m getting fed up with this BS and am getting tempted to give UPC a call.

Could be the box, could also be the line. Register a fault with Swisscom, they're pretty good about replacing them.

Tried a reset of your box? First save all your phone contacts as it will delete them, Or try using the Google Public dns address.

The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

Yep I have had more or less the same issue for almost 18 months now. Their technician has been to my house so many times that we’re on first name terms! They have replaced the router countless times, they’ve re wired the house at their expense and replaced the last mile (some other people on our road have the same issue) and still the problem persists. Sometimes they make some adjustment and it goes away for a few months, but it always returns. Their workaround is that they have provided us with free mobile hot spots for when it happens...

My wife works from home and her employer pays for us to have two providers, so we have cable as well, so it is never a real problem. If I had to pay for it, then I’d ditch Swisscom right a way.

Well here in Zürich I have never had that problem with Swisscom Internet Box Plus.
