Cablecom connection -modern explanation?

Hey all, searching for internet options at my new apartment and since I'm up in the hills UPC is my best speed option.
What I can't understand based on the searches or vague explanations during apartment viewings is this notorious Cablecom infrastructure/connection fee. All the searches on the forum are from older years and UPCs website says nothing.

Can anyone explain to me? I.e. I buy the 49CHF/month for 1st 12 months 300mb/s package. Will I be paying 49CHF a month or is there another mystery 30-40 tacked on after that in my electricity bill? Is it included in the price these days? Thanks!

Connection fee is included. If you want to quit it you have to give them 3 months notice before the 12 months is finished.

This is the history of Cablecom.
Scroll down to 2016. That's when it changed its name to UPC.

Therefore, in 2019, there is no more Cablecom, and anything you read about it is outdated.

EDIT: If you are renting an flat, you may find that the connection is already included in your rental. Have a look at your contract. Find out from your landlord (and perhaps your neighbours) which modules of the service are included.

Re: Cablecom connection -modern explanation?

UPC has nothing to do with the electricity bill.

A physical cable connection is required in order to receive digital services such as Internet, telephony or television. For the sake of clarity and transparency, the cable connection is already included in all of our new Connect and Happy Home offers.

Check annual auxiliary bill that you are not billed twice. I you do not need the UPC connection you can get it sealed and save CHF 39.90 per month.

By me they did not physically seal it. The radio still works.

Re: Cablecom connection -modern explanation?

I have a UPC internet connection, activated 6 years ago. Never changed the contract since then. 6 months ago, I changed my address. In the previous flat, the line rental was included in the rent. In the new flat, I am getting the line rental bill every 3 months, around 130 CHF.

I want to cancel my subscription and move to Salt, which looks like a better deal. I talked to them on the phone, they tried to convince me to stay and provided a 50% discount, waivingthe line rental fees. I am thinking about it, but one thing struck me as weird:

I can cancel my current subscription with 2 months notice, this is fine, but I cannot cancel the line rental until after one year since I moved in the new flat (So I have to keep paying for 6 more months). This I don't get. The line rental and the internet contract are separate? I thought that the line rental is a pre-requisite to provide internet service. Why do these two things come seperately?
