| | Smart Phone Registration
Hi All ,
I have reviewed the almost all previous topics but couldn’t find any discussion about my question. I hope it fits here .Do I have to pay anything if I buy a smartphone in USA and use in Switzerland ?. As you may know , for example , iPhone 11 is cheaper in USA than Switzerland . So I’m trying to figure out what additional cost might be charged to me if I buy it from USA.
Thanks for your replies.
Cheers.

The phone is only hardware. Only the sim card via abo or prepay requires registration.

It's probably more expensive than what you are allowed to take in per person. To avoid import tax, have it in use when crossing the border.

Make sure that you don’t pay sales tax when you buy it in the US. The advertised price you see there does not include taxes, while the Swiss price includes VAT.
The 8.875% tax in New York city may make it more expensive than here with it’s 7.5% VAT
Only Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon have no State taxes but even there individual cities may impose their own.

Caveat Emptor | | | | | Bowlie is right. Some more detail. There are no sales taxes at any level in New Hampshire, so feel free to have your iPhone shipped anywhere in the state.
Source: he who had his iPhone shipped to his house in NH and who has used the same phone on Sunrise with no problems.

| | | | | Not much help if you need it in Switzerland though. Curley´s comment is valid
