Still need to pay 2 more months after cancelling UPC?

I cancelled my 3-in-1 UPC contract two weeks ago (effective on Feb 18th) and my latest bill showed that I have to pay for the whole month of February. When I called UPC, they told that I will also have to pay for March. I have not saved the original contract, I only remember that the minimum duration was 12 months (I had the contract it for a few years). Does anybody know if this sounds OK?

2 Months cancellation period is normal, also it is normal that a contract for a year has to be cancelled with respect to the cancellation period.

Re: Still need to pay 2 more months after cancelling UPC?

Sounds about right. Look at the Ts and Cs from Cablecom online, found with a quick google search. These are for mobile but I'd bet the conditions are similar for bundles:

Quote:
7. What is your contract term and how can you terminate it?
The contract shall enter into force upon signature. The minimum contract term shall commence upon activation of the mobile services, as explained in the contract. The contract shall remain in force for at least as long as is stipulated in the contract under the heading contract term, and shall subsequently continue for an indefinite period. Upon expiry of the minimum term you may terminate the service in question subject to complying with 2 months notice of termination to the end of a month. Should you terminate the contract prior to expiry of the minimum contract term, we shall be entitled to invoice you for the service charges due until the end of the minimum term. Notwithstanding the minimum term, UPC reserves the right to terminate the contract subject to complying with 2 months notice of termination to the end of a month.

yes minimum duration would be 12 months but then you also need to give a 2 month notice period to cancel the contract
