Moving To EU, Keep Salt Plan?

I'm moving to the EU from Switzerland soon, and the current sale for the Salt roaming plan for Europe that I have is actually cheaper than any similar plan I can find in the country that I'm moving to.

Has anyone tried maintaining their contract after moving? I read through my contract and I don't see anything specific about "too much roaming" like I have heard of some companies doing but I guess it could be hidden in the fine print beyond the fine print.

It would be great to keep my number, which I've had for 11 years, especially since it doesn't seem like it will cost anything extra. Not to mention, having a foreign number makes it really easy to weed out telemarketing calls. All my billing is done online.

All the threads I can find about this are about people trying to get out of their contract early, but I'm wondering if Salt will continue honoring the contract so long as I pay for it. The contract only says "Salt has the right to immediately deactivate all SIM cards that are not used in a manner explicitly expressed in the contract," but the contract doesn't say anything about consecutive roaming days. Does that mean I'm good?

Re: Moving To EU, Keep Salt Plan?

There's nothing explicit in the contract about moving nor about "excessive roaming". I'm wondering if there's some "finer print" and that it is "understood" based on some legalese wording in the contract like "notamment en cas d’utilisation abusive de vos appareils" [such as in abusive use of your devices]. I would personally understand that to mean spamming, piracy, or something else illegal, but I imagine operators have a wide range of what they can arbitrarily determine "abuse".

My address on the contract is already years out of date, as I've moved like 3 times (within Switzerland) between the contract address and my actual address. I know the person living in the place that is on my Salt billing address and they've never received anything for me, so the billing does seem to be 100% online.

Essentially I'm thinking of signing up for a new two year contract right now given the huge sales. I'm planning to ask Salt, although I've gotten incorrect misinformation directly from employees in the past, so I will somehow have to get a response in writing.

Re: Moving To EU, Keep Salt Plan?

I've kept many a subscription for all manner of things that were specific to the country I lived in. Dutch mobile subscription, SKY TV (UK), bank accounts and many others. If all online, and as long as you do not tell them, all should be fine.

I also have a Virgin PAYG number for about 15 years - I still use it to get some codes for which i can't use a "foreign" number. As the data roaming in the EU was very cheap, much cheaper than Swisscom and despite their FUP which stated there had to be usage in the UK to get the roaming package, I had not used it in the UK for at least 7 years. Still works now, though I no longer roam in the EU with it thanks to the new Swisscom subscriptions.
