| | Printer/spooler problem
One for the computer geeks.
I am at the end of my knowledge and if anybody has further tips of how I could try to resolve the problem, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Printer and laptop don't love each other anymore out of the blue.
Laptop is a10yr old ASUS, WIN10, Microsoft office 365 pro plus, the printer is a HP Envy 5640
When I want to print, it says 'page will be printed' for a few seconds, the icon appears also for a few seconds, but the spooler remains empty.
I have done so far:
Switching on and off of both devices :P :P
de- and re-installing printer inculding searching for possible new drivers for the primter
Installing the HP Doctor App and let it do it's magic....apparently it can not check the spooling...(sic!)
The connection (wi-fi) is perfect between the devices
Also performed, amongst others, the tricks :
Emptying everything via C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
Trying to re-set via "sc config spooler depend= RPCSS" which BIOS answers with SUCCESS, yet still not able to print
Is there anything more I could try?

I have an older Brother printer which for whatever reason fails to print sooner or later over lan, no remedy found. But works flawlesssly over the usb connection.

Concentrate on that, and in the meantime try a physical wired connection. If that doesn't work then your printer's probably borked.

You aren't accidentally printing to XPS or whatever, are you, thus producing a file somewhere and not sending anything to the printer?

In case it's actually a problem with the document you are trying to print and not the printer or windows:
Create a simple test.txt document in Windows Notepad with a line of plain text.
Try printing that.

Lets try following: That stupid hidden feature that most of my work colleagues fall for:
Control Panel > Printer > Select your printer > Check print tasks/See what's printing and check if Use Printer Offline is unchecked. Systemsteuerung > Geräte und Drucker Try reset printer spooler via CMD
Run command line as Admin and run: net stop spooler net start spooler It's not your fault | The following 2 users would like to thank Th3Alchemist for this useful post: | |

This can be caused by so many things that I resign from offering help online, best to ask a neighbour or friend who is handy with these things and who can actually see and try things with the machines quickly.

When my own printer did that, I simply erased it from my computer and installed it again. For some weird and mysterious reason it worked when everything else had failed.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Like I stated in my initial post, I already performed quite a few of the suggestions already, had to order a cable to connect the printer with the laptop....doesn't work either
EdwinNL, actually I am usually quite adept at working out such things myself, despite being blonde :P , and son-in-law#3 is a IT technician and couldn't get it to work either.
Long story short, I will get a new laptop, that printing problem isn't the only issue.
The laptop I am using, belonged to the son of my hubby, is over 10yrs old and the battery is dead anyway (can only use it when plugged into socket)
Thank you each and everyone for taking the time and trying to help me solve the problem!

My own printer does the same hiccup some times as well.
The solution is in your thread title: Spooler Problem. So get rid of the faulty spooler device and not just the printer device.
Plug-in printer and turn it on.
Start the Device Manager (Windows+R, devmgmt.msc)
Navigate to Print queues (Drucker Warteschlange) and delete/uninstall those of the faulty printer, and also the "Root Print Queue"/"Default Print Queue"
Next uninstall the printer (can also be done from the Device Manager)
Unplug, and re-plug printer. Wait for the installation to finish.
Print.

In the "View" menu you can select "Show hidden devices".
Now uninstall all "Printer queues" and all "Printers" devices.
Unplug and re-plug. Switch on printer and wait for the installation to finish.
But I assume you also did try that.
