Upgrade iPhone

This seems a very basic question but I don't use my phone for much so I'm not very savvy when it comes to upgrades.
I want to upgrade my iPhone but don't want to spend more than about 35 chf per month on a contract as I don't use it very much. My current contract has expired, so I can purchase a used one, or look for some other package somewhere. Salt and Swisscom upgrade would seem to work out around 50 chf per month. Anyone know of any good deals from any company?
If I was to look for a used one where would be a good place to look and what type of things should I look out for? How would I transfer data/contacts over?

Re: Upgrade iPhone

If you are not constantly on the phone then maybe a prepaid may be worth looking into.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

Buy 2nd hand and then go prepaid.

Spend a couple of weeks checking out used phones on Ricardo to see which ones fetch which prices.
Always ask for the battery health reading.

There's an upcoming Apple event, people often try to unload their iPhones before that to achieve better prices.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

My last few phones I’ve purchased 2nd hand. Not the latest and greatest but one of the previous year’s latest and greatest.

You can ‘buy’ a phone via a subscription package but I’ve never seen the value in this. Try Comparis to compare recent offers.

Apple also discounts the ‘current’ latest and greatest whenever they release a new l&g.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

Buying via subscription is OK if someone else foots the bill of the subscription.

My employer pays for a mid-level phone-contract (I use the same phone for private and business calls), but does not provide a phone.

I do tend to use the phones for a long time.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

I picked up a iphone 10 for pretty cheap at one of those dodgy Turkish second hand electronics corner shops and got a prepaid from Lidl. I top it up every two months with 25 euros and it has never run dry.
Had it now for two years and amma quite happy with it.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

I've considered prepaid too - my only concern is that needing internet access outside home would negate the convenience of having a contract.
Didn't know Lidl were in the phone business, so will check out their option. Thanks!

I have only had the internet out twice since getting the lidl account and a quick nip into the next shop solved that problem.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

For the new phone contract, I suggest you take a look at yallo (the budget offering from Sunrise). They have a "60% off sale" at the moment, but it ends at midnight tonight (Sunday). For example, you can get unlimited calls, SMS and internet/data in Switzerland, with a monthly allowance for calls and internet in Europe, USA and Canada, for CHF 28/month. You can cancel at any time without penalty and the price is fixed (it will never go up).

If you really want to upgrade your phone, I second the idea of buying one second hand on Ricardo, Tutti or Anibis. In Suisse Romande, Anibis would be your best bet.

All modern phones have a process to transfer numbers and data relatively painlessly, either via a cable or through the cloud. Just google it for your chosen model.

Re: Upgrade iPhone

These guys may be of interest, I sourced some items from them a while back and was impressed by the service and prices.
