As nostalgic as I am for the Amiga 600 I owned 20 years ago, I'm still wondering what is the benefit of this thing compared to a cheap laptop?

Half the price for one thing, and a lot smaller and lighter (although obviously that's without a screen).

TBH anywhere I have a monitor I probably also already have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, so no real advantage for me, but as an all-in-one thin client it looks interesting.

Amiga 600... memories

I gave one to my young son. Allowed him to tinker and experiment and for some reason it's less intimidating than a PC. He uses it as a media player and has learned Scratch and basic Python...

It's good for kids to be less abstracted away from technology than more (read Apple.)
