Re: The Playstation 5 Current /Future Owners' Thread

Wifey got here from Digitec today - ordered it on first day or ordering, has seen the status jump around a bit, but once it got to "within 1-2 weeks" (or word to that effect) it turned up within a week.

Can't help thinking Sony really screwed this up - not sure what their excuse is, but I don't see Apple, Samsung, Dell, HP etc having any issues.

They don't necessarily need the same chips which are in short supply though.

You can see this with the crazy shortages for top end NVidia gfx cards at present who have the same shortage issues as Sony/Microsoft do with scalpers rinsing people just the same way. This is not purely a Sony issue.

You should also read about how car manufacturers are actually shutting down plants because of this same chip shortage:

I've been holding off on buying until more titles up my alley come to the console, but I think the second part of Final Fantasy VII will be my breaking point.

Re: The Playstation 5 Current /Future Owners' Thread

Just in case saying that it might be wise to wait with PS5 purchase..

The reason is DualShock controller, it has the same issue that Nintendo Switch has - a 100% guaranteed joycon drift after certain number of hours.

According to this iFixit article, on average it will start appearing after 417h of gametime and will progressively get worse with time.

Your warranty should cover issues related to defects like this, right?

Indeed, it should be covered according to most sources.
You will need to pay postage to send it to Sony but that's it.

Since there is an active lawsuit about this problem, I would guess they will come out with V2.0 of the controller this year.

It should also be covered under the 2 year warranty from the store you buy it from. If my controller suffers (I bought one for PC gaming) this I will just walk into Media Markt and ask them to sort it.

Yup, it's actually a sneaky but viable strategy with many kinds of electronics if you want something in new condition just before the warranty ends. Those pesky "intermittent" power off problems...

Re: The Playstation 5 Current /Future Owners' Thread

Digitec properly provided a launch day PS5 on Launch Day, like they did with both PS3, PS4 and PS4 Pro..... the latter moved to the bedroom and the first two are now in the gameroom

Has been a real pleasure, just turn on, and almost instantly play, which is great if one has little time.

Anyone knows how to get notified for the next wave?

Any twitter account, tool, website, or community for CH PS5 availability alerts?

Un-be-lievable... Still waiting for the supply to come to normal prices.

Other than the pirate site above, any tips on scoring one disc edition unit?

Another question is, how do you get a proper TV to fully experience PS5 in Switzerland?

I tried to look up LG Nanocell and it says deliver between February and March, I presume 2022...

It's very easy to get one from Amazon (.de / .fr / .es). You'll even benefit from a reduced price due to VAT refund.

To snag one, you'll have to follow some of the Twitter or Telegram channels to get alerted on stock changes.

There have been plenty of opportunities to buy them, you just need to check stock more regularly, especially on sites like this... https://www.preispirat.ch/

2 at Media Markt, 1 at Interdiscount and 1 at Microspot

I had been looking for a while for them and was surprised how easy it became all of a sudden.

I can confirm - it suddenly popped on my medamarkt pinned window, went through easy, got it delivered 2 days later. Side observation - most of Ricardo bidding now finishes near retail
