| | The Playstation 5 Current /Future Owners' Thread
Inspired by this thread, I am starting the current gen thread.
Any idea why the shocking drought and missing units for sale, after the official launch? Has any of you seen delivery times announced?
If Sony Mobile is anything to go by, this will be a looooong wait. |

No different from any of the last few console launches though (switch, PSx, Xbox X, SNES/NES mini etc) so hardly a surprise especially for a Xmas launch and no different for the new Xbox either.
I'll get one but I'm in no desperate rush until a few more actual PS5 titles are out.

Been a Playstation guy since the first! Goes back much further than the PS to Nintendo NES, SEGA Genesis, etc. I am not a big gamer at all, just mostly play the major titles during the winter months. GTA, Fallout, Gran Turismo, COD, etc.
Very much looking forward to getting a PS 5 with Disc drive sometime soon! |

I think the trend of the scalpers buying up initial releases and trying to resell started on the Playstation 3 from what I remember. Seems if a person isn't lucky enough to get one at the initial sale time its usually month or two before they start becoming available without a fight.
Hard to say this year, seems like the hoarding and lack of supply is the worst I have seen it. I figure maybe around Christmas or shortly afterwards people will be able to find one without being ripped off.
I can and will wait.

Manor had about 250 units available for a limited time online this morning (delivery 18th Dec). Had to pay cash up front to get in the queue.
Microspot showed up as having some units on Toppriese.ch this morning for 16th Dec delivery but never appeared on the Microspot website.
So it seems a few units might come into CH before 2021.

I am watching Ricardo in disbelief - bids now cross 1k with ease... For those comfortable with 30% markup, you can go to SALT and buy one with a useless SIM for free...

They say thieves are stealing/hijacking PS5s from moving trucks in recent weeks. I will not include any written links to prevent discrepancies in stories around the net. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I353MuzAwo |

But it's not "with a SIM" but rather when you buy a new subscription starting at Fr. 70/months, with a contract 24 months long. In other words, with a contract worth over Fr. 1600 you do get a PS5 for free, delivered after Feb. 1st 2021.

CPUs and GPUs in general are in short supply at the moment (unless you want an Apple M1). For instance, NVIDIA 30x0 GPUs and AMD Ryzen CPUs are hard to get. Tight production capacity at TSMC (Apple bought their entire 5nm run) and supply chain hiccups (e.g. the fire at AKM in Japan) are producing the 'perfect storm'.
