Is the landline number listed in online phonebooks by default?

I made a subscription for Salt fiber recently, and I have been given a landline number.
As I am new to Switzerland, I am wondering whether my phone number and physical address will be shared by default with online phonebooks (something like search.ch)

Do I need to do something to have my information stay private, not appear in search results, and not be spammed by telemarketing calls?

Thank you

Yes, it is I believe. Check local.ch to find out. Also check their options for blocking cold calls, etc.

Re: Is the landline number listed in online phonebooks by default?

It's normally an option when you apply, or you can contact Salt to get it removed.

There's another option to opt-out of calls - then you get a * by your name and nobody is supposed to call you with marketing.

The * probably makes no difference, and the hiding probably only means that marketing callers can't so easily address you by name.

Thank you.
I went today to Salt store, and the person there told me that a ticket will be created for this (hopefully they understood my request, there was a small language barrier issue)
I ll check again with them to see whether this is done.

Re: Is the landline number listed in online phonebooks by default?

I am quite sure there was a misunderstanding in the shop. Maybe the opposite of your wish?

The duty for publication of a phone number was revoked in 1998. Since then it is voluntary, and local.ch=the swiss phone book, does advertise, that it is "free to sign in". The standard very likely is that a new number is not published, unless you apply for.

When I moved to salt I took a new (fixed line) number, which is not present at local.ch. I also can't remember having seen an option "yes, publish my number".

Re: Is the landline number listed in online phonebooks by default?

Yeah, I am afraid there was a misunderstanding...

I repeated to the agent(in English) before leaving the shop that I did not want my number to be shared. (Initially the agent thought I wanted to keep my old number)

I ll check again with them later.
