| | Re: Home Theatre System | Quote: | | | | | Sorry. SR 6014....fixed | | | | | It's a really nice AV receiver for sure, but at this point in 2021 I would not buy an AV receiver without HDMI 2.1 and the SR6014 does not have or support HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.1 is the new standard and going forward all TV's, consoles etc will start to use it.
For only a little more I would have bought the Marantz SR6015, or even the slghtly cheaper and excellent DENON AVC-X3700H, which both support HDMI 2.1.
For a 15x15 foot room even a Marantz SR5015 or Denon X2700H are more than enough to fill it with amazing sound and both are cheaper and have HDMI 2.1.

Thank you for your inputs and suggestions. Highly appreciated.
I finally went with the following:
Klipsch 8000f Floor Standing Speakers
Marantz SR6014 Receiver
Klipsch 600 Centre Speaker
Got a good deal on Klipsch and Marantz.
I have held off on the sub-woofer for the moment but will look at SVS as an option.
I will be moving apartments and thus the speakers should suffice for the larger room.
Will let you know how the set-up sounds.....I think this will be quite an adventure.... B-) | | | | |
Google tells me they have 8" woofers so you might not need a seperate sub-woofer. All the best!

Hi all,
I stumbled onto this thread as I am in a similar position as logo123 was, but have some space constraints.
We have a dedicated tv room in the basement which is combined with my bar/brewery area to the side. The tv wall is about 2.5m adjascent a door. I was eyeing the setup suggested by chuff earlier, but with the oberon 3 bookshelf speakers to place on the tv stand either side of the tv. My wife just bought this tv though , and now we only have about 15cm either side of the tv on the stand itself. Without the stand I would have 30cm. https://www.samsung.com/ch/tvs/qled-...qe85q70tatxzg/
I can either mount the front speakers on the wall on each side, or I can get a smaller stand for the electronics and wall mount the tv to place the speakers below. I had also been thinking Jamo S S803 with S8 ATMs on top. With these on the floor under the tv, I'm not sure if the tv would be pushed too high.
Anyone have any ideas or feedback on how to work around the big tv?
thanks

wow that's a huge TV your wife bought. I would have a hard time convincing my wife to get something like that!
Is there space for speaker stands? Should be around Fr.200 a pair?
Or if you can stretch your budget, how about something from the monitor audio radius? The 270 is a slim floor stander.
But I think your problem is that the speakers are going to be pushed into the corner and it may affect the sound quality.

Yeah it's huge. I consider myself lucky.
Yes, those floor standers are pretty slim and would fit but you're right, the one would be right in the corner. I think I'm going to go with stands that can fit in close. Or since I love diy, I might build some wings on the tv stand to act as shelves for the speakers. Still thinking it over.

Update for anyone interested.....
The speakers are AWESOME
The room configuration could be improved but I love it
The centre speaker is a clear winner for voice clarity
The Floor Speakers are great when it comes to Bass
And I am holding onto my 3D TV because these are no longer manufactured
I am sure the set-up will become even more amazing when I move into a better space but for now, I am happyyy :-)

It's always nice to hear follow-ups, particularly when one is happy
Marantz is good stuff, it will last years - I have a SR7001 from 2006.

The gear you bought is all great stuff. I think you may even enjoy it more if, some day, you can place it in a room that will cause significantly less reflections (off the 2 glass walls that you mentioned). Maybe a little bit of treatment (curtains, furniture, decorative absorbers) would make tons of difference. Of course, being in a flat already says something about the sound pressure, so reflections may be not an issue at all.

The glass is not helpful but the set-up is future proof (my TV is now 10 years old and still going super strong) so I will enjoy the set-up even more when I have a room with better acoustics.

None of the 4K tvs can play 3D (I have been checking on this with many brands). I will hold onto this TV as long as I can. Maybe I end up buying a second but then it may need another setup.... LoL

I felt like that about my plasma screen. Great quality pic and kept it until last year. Still not sure if I have upgraded... I should have gone for the top of the line OLED. ;-) | Quote: | | | | | I am always tempted to upgrade but I love watching 3D movies and that is what holds me back.
