You can't forward the calls to your CH number, but I can still make/receive calls, voicemails and texts through my laptop. Most important for me was if/when we move back I can still have the same number. | |

If you're using VOIP then any phone number listed is not in any way used within the call process, but just as an identifier within (some of the) proprietary voice/messaging systems like whatsapp, skype etc. So there's no need top "port" your foreign number, and certainly no need, in general, to pay for the privilege.
If you think about it, using your phone via your laptop is no different from using a bluetooth headset or similar, not in any way linked to the SIM(s) in the phone and any number(s) they're subscribed to.
