Free 100Mbits/s Data Sim card for existing Sunrise customers

Hi,

Sunrise offers a free Data Sim card for existing or new customers till end of April.

More info here : https://www.sunrise.ch/en/residentia...e-connect.html

What ist still unclear : does this sim card allow tethering or installation in a 4G modem, and does it let the qoqa offer untouched ?

Re: Free 100Mbits/s Data Sim card for existing Sunrise customers

If you get any signal to start with...

We recently moved to sunrise, it's appalling how bad the connectivity is! I get no signal in my office (which isn't a huge deal for calls as I can use wifi calling) - but no signal means no SMS... which means no 2FA for older systems that use SMS based 2FA.

Calls drop constantly - not just on trains/cars, but also while standing still...

Sure, it's cheaper... but it's cheaper because I can't make calls!

Completely agree, Sunrise is absolute garbage. My company uses it for their phones, but I have a personal sim in the same handset connected to Swisscom. What you see below is fairly representative of what I experience at multiple locations (home, work, train).

Re: Free 100Mbits/s Data Sim card for existing Sunrise customers

I have a yallo mobile (sunrise network) and am very happy about coverage (I also went through salt and swisscom in the past).
Anyway, I also have home internet from sunrise (not via qoqa) and ordered my free internet sim! Waiting for a postman

btw. A friend of mine has sunrise via qoqa and 'gutschein' does not get added to his cart when he tries to make an order as it did to mine.

I called Sunrise, they said We connect and the plan with Qoqa Rabatt are 2 separate products, so Qoqa Rabatt won't be cleared. Ordered, let's see.

During the ordering process, I had to select the voucher code, so for your friend, Jace, no idea, maybe retry later ?

He actually wrote them over online chat and they generated a code for him on the spot.

I ordered mine yesterday, got it via post today!

Re: Free 100Mbits/s Data Sim card for existing Sunrise customers

I got the sunrise internet at home from yallo, and I was able to order the sim for free. The sim arrived in 1 day.

Here in Aargau I get equally good signal with Swisscom and Sunrise. Maybe even better with Sunrise. The worst is salt.

Tethering works, I do not have any lte modem to check, but since tethering works from phone, I do not see any reason why not to work from modem.

If at some point you cancel your sunrise home or mobile contract, cancel also the we connect, else it will start to cost 20CHF per month.

You also get 500mb roaming data for free every month.

if i understand correctly, the sim card is free, but you still need to pay a (reduced) monthly fee?

Been with Salt for the last few years, never had a problem with coverage, but am considering a change on cost grounds. Checking out some coverage maps like https://www.nperf.com/en/map/CH/-/15...296876&zoom=12 seems to suggest that Siunrise network might actually be better the Salt anyway, even if not quite as good as Swisscom.

As for this free SIM thing - maybe I'm just being thick, but I can't quite work out what it is and what it isn't. If I have a mobile subscription does this just give me a second data-only SIM without charge, or is this a completely different thing?

It is actually too good to be true!

that's what makes me suspicious!

actually, i was confused by the wording in the offer box which mention a 10chf discount. but it seems that it is supposed to be free for those with an existing abo.

ordered and now maybe i need to get a new laptop with wwan

I do not think that your experience is the norm here calling a network, any network, garbage based only on your experience. It is just wrong. It depends on where you live, what kind of mobile phone you have or even with the network profile that needs to be updated once in a while. I have 5g signal at home with a minimum of 200 MB in a building from 1984. My daughter lives in a brand new building and there is almost no coverage...any network. And you can stand next to the window. But that is why we have WIFI calling. There are many factors...not just your personal experience. Having 2 sims with different levels of coverage does not prove anything. I have 2 sims from the same provider in the phone, private and business and the level is different.

Our company (2000 employees or so) moved to sunrise from Swisscom. I haven't heard a single positive comment since the move.

On the contrary, I've even had clients ask to pay our phone bill to get a proper connection...

Why dont you ask your account manager to launch an official complain to Sunrise. There is a business Tech support team in every company and they take such comments quite seriously. You have backing of 2000 employees....

They did... we are going to get femtocells installed in the office.... which we can't goto due to COVID

In the meantime, the issues for the rest of CH while travelling can't really be resolved. I was offered to carry a tracking device to identify spots without signal...

Ended up on a call with someone from sunrise, who said "are you in CH? As I can't seem to track your signal" (in my ground floor apartment)

You're welcome.

I can also confirm it is ok in a 4G modem (2nd hand Sunrise 4g Wifi Tower).

Very good news. I ordered mine yesterday so that it can replace my paid 4G connection in the holiday house, which is also Sunrise.

So they will build a indoor solution for your company without any additional cost!!!

The tracker must be an app on your phone...right. You will find white zones in every route and in every network. Where i live i have good coverage from Salt but really bad coverage from Swisscom. cdcdoc posted the right comparison of Switzerland networks and benchmarking.
