Re: Cheap amplifier for passive speakers?

OK, I've looked into the chips they are using, and some articles comparing them.

#1 is the one you want.

Re: Cheap amplifier for passive speakers?

Oh, this is one of my main hobbies. Now it's my turn to ask you questions !

So:
1) How many speakers will you drive with this amp? Technical details (Impedance, max. power handling). Anything else is nice to have.
2) What expected power do you expect to want/need/use? In other words, how loud do you want it to be?
3) Can you describe the room where it'll live? Size, placement, surfaces around it (windows, curtains, floor, furniture, etc)? A pic would help a bit.
4) Expected fidelity. I assume you want something basic, nothing too fancy or hi-fi. Better to ask, though.
5) Other requirements: e.g. what and how many inputs do you think you'll use (e.g. CD player, turntable, DAB radio, AUX from the phone, etc)

1) Two speakers

2) Recommended amplifier power 10 - 100 W

3) Speakers will sit next to the large PC monitors in front of me or on the shelf above my monitor. The wall behind the monitor is solid brick wall.

4) The speakers will be $200- $500 range. As an example DALI Oberon 3?

5) They will connect to my PC and sometimes mobile phone via Blutooth or wired connection.

OK. (in style of typical EF response): First we need to start with a complete refurbishment, layout re-think and sound treatment of your apartment...

Re: Cheap amplifier for passive speakers?

So the Oberons, as most Dali pairs, are 6 Ohms. That leaves all 8 Ohm amps out of the picture. 2 of the 3 amps you linked to in your first post don't state the max impedance, so I'd avoid them (it may be OK to use them with your speakers at lower power, but as soon as you cranked them up, you may risk damaging the amp). I understand you named the Dalis as an example, but please DO keep that in mind.

These Chinese cheap amps are likely to be noisier than higher-quality amps (mind the "likely"). Given the option, I'd rather buy a half-decent used amp than a new no-brand one (e.g. something like this, or this).

Finally, based on how you plan to place the gear, it seems you may really want a micro-format that is less of an "eye-sore" than the average-sized integrated amp (normally around 40 cm wide or wider, and weighting over 3kg). I personally like Cambridge Audio in the micro, mid-budget category (I have a CA pre-amp for my turntable myself), and I think the AXA 25 or 35 might be your thing if you're willing to splurge: https://www.azone.ch/cambridge-audio-axa25.html. If that's over your assigned budget, and for a little over Fr 100, you can get a Monacor (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product...erker-11242358). Not as nice, but probably better quality than no-name amps.

In my suggestions I'm ignoring Bluetooth, because I can't recommend any amp that has that functionality (I just never tried it myself). I do have a small micro stereo, a Sony CMT-SBT100, but that's an integrated stereo with receiver and CD-player, but I wouldn't pair that to a NICE pair of Dali speakers.

Option 1 in OP, which uses dual TPA3116D2 (each in bridged mode).

Option 3 uses a single TDA7498E.

Re: Cheap amplifier for passive speakers?

Have a look at this

https://www.pureaudio.ch/argon-sa1-verstarker.html

It's rebranded and scaled down version of NAD AMP3.

Argon is HifiKluben brand.
