| | Getting out of a Sunrise Contract early?
Shoot. I fell for the oldest trick in the cell-phone-shill book.
Back in March I got an email from Sunrise about upgrading my current contract for a new, better, cheaper one. Naturally, it was, like, "24 hours only" and I only had to click a single button in gmail, look at a congratulatory page at sunrise.ch - and hey presto! I had a "We Mobile M" instead of whatever I had before. About the same as what I'd had for about several years before, but, like 5 Fr. cheaper.
Also: I'd just agreed to a 24 month contract. Something that was not stated ANYWHERE in the email OR on the Bestätigung page (I actually still have both). Presumably, that information was somewhere in the link entitled "Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen".
(Note: This was NOT connected to a new smartphone or any other device. Just a mobile plan upgrade - probably actually an extension.)
Now, I'd like to switch to Digitec, and I've discovered that Sunrise won't let me out of the contract until March 2023. That is, I COULD leave early, for the low low price of 850 Fr.
First thing: Don't be stupid like me! Always, ALWAYS read the fine print!
Second thing: Do you guys know of any way to avoid the consequences of my own stupidity? I wanted to change anyway, and after this stunt, I'd REALLY like to see the back of Sunrise, if possible before the March 2023.

Second step - probably cry because your assumption that the AGB screws you is correct, but maybe you'll get lucky, fingers crossed.

I am afraid that you will have to pay the contract until termination, my son got caught like that also.
Sunrise wouldn't even suspend his contract whilst he spent 5 months in UK on an Erasmus exchange...

They are giant douchebags.
They tried to tell me that I hadn’t cancelled my contract and was locked in for another year.
The problem was I had sent them a recorded delivery letter in good time cancelling two contracts with them and received confirmation that they had received the letter and confirmed the cancellation request. When I pointed this out to them and said it wasn’t my problem if they couldn’t read properly they duly cancelled it but I got no apology from them.

Sorry, but have never had a better provider since years than Sunrise. It‘s clearly a misunderstanding - give them a call! Personally I think that it‘s amazing that I can call within Europe or surf without time limit for CHF 45.- per month!

I had a Sunrise nightmare that lasted several months, finally resolved but only once my employer got involved
I would never recommend them to anyone

Particularly considering that the mistake was made in March and now we're almost in July. Not a chance they'll let that slide.
45chf is a pretty good price but if you don't make many calls when travelling (at least traditional calls - whatsapp and Facetime excluded) then there's certainly better deals out there. Like the Yallo Black one posted recently.

And you're right: They most certainly did NOT let me off the hook. I'm still waiting for Sunrise to let me go - about 9 months left on a contract that doesn't suit my needs but that I absolutely won't change for fear of getting another lifetime or two tacked onto the current contract.
Word to the wise: ALWAYS read the fine print! Twice.

I got caught. I'd signed up for 2 years free calls, data and SMS within Switzerland - and it was a good deal. But then I got a job with a SIM card that gave me free calls, SMS and data for the EEA + UK.
The nice customer service person suggested I transfer my contract to my wife, and I take over hers. (I have a dual sim phone).
Worked out well in the end.

1) The Sunrise one is 45 (or 39 CHF was available recently) the Yallo black is 24 or 29 chf based on when you got it
2) both yallo and sunrise are basically the same company
3) sunrise deal includes phone calls to europe+us and unlimited roaming voice calls in same areas
4) sunrise also gives an extra free sim card that you can use for your tablet, computer or watch
