Phone plans / Black friday

Hello

My contract with Salt will expire end of the year.
I was thinking of giving notice already now (contract requires 60 days) and be ready to watch out for black friday promotions.
Are black friday phone subscriptions usually good ?

I also need to replace my phone, are the subscriptions with phone plans generally attractive or is it better to buy it separately ?

My contract is unlimited in ch for 30/month and 500mb and 1hr roaming in europe.
The offers I have seen so far this year are more around 20.-

Thank you!

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

Have a look at Wingo, Swisscom’s subsidiary.

No idea about black friday though.

Once you find the best deal you can, ask your existing provider if they will match it m

offers do come, but i don't recall whether they were particularly good around black friday. i'd cancel and switch to a flexible/payg plan so you can switch once a good deal comes.

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

the thing to do is to list your needs and also check the network/reception.

I have Talktalk (sunrise network) 20CHF

unlimited SMS/MMS and call to EU and CH
Internet 1Gb in CH and in EU (2Gb if you take a 2 years contract)

I can't call FROM EU (for free) but it's OK because I have a French SIM for that.

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

I just check the talktalk website, I don't see the 20CHF plan I was talking about. It's gone.

They have an interesting one at 30CH called XXL

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

yes, usually every company has compelling deals around Black Friday. Last BF, there were some really compelling deals. Since then some have reappeared as prices continue to go down and more freebies included. This BF could be a reset and offer even more bonuses or better prices.

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

I completely forgot, i need to decide this weekend.

Salt offers me unlimited + 4gb roaming for 30/month.

It looked like the best offer (pre blackfriday...) but I checked talktalk mentionned above and it sounds much better 16/month with 5gb roaming and no commitment (or 11/month for 2 years and 1gb roaming)

I think I will cancel salt and take talktalk unless something better pops up at the end of the month.

Thank you

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

Wingo have a black friday deal, it's on there website now https://www.wingo.ch/de
also some mobilezone advertisements show it
sunrise will also have black Friday / cyber Monday deals too, it's just not live yet
I took one of these deals in the past, it was 2 years commitment and nothing was cheaper offered during the 2 years so it was a good deal to change around cyber Monday/black Friday
Also, you don't have to wait for your contract to expire "before" changing, you can tell the operator to offer you anyways the package at the advertised price, but start your contract 3 + in the future, and even sign in 2 months, so in all you can commit now, then then start and pay in 5 months. This is valid across all operators, e.g I took a Cybermonday deal around end of November, and didn't actually start it until April

It's still =.95/month more than Lycamobile which has no set-up charge, free sim card, covers all of Europe with phone calls and equivalent data - and piggy-backs Swisscom's network...

Order Wingo via Alao and you have no activation cost: https://www.alao.ch/en/compare/mobile/

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

Its worth noting that only Talktalk (Sunrise) seems to offer 5G as an option, the Salt and Swisscom based providers are restricted to 4G.

Lyca is also the best option for me.

But it doesn't allow hotspot, a thing to consider.

Re: Phone plans / Black friday

I had lyca in the past. I could share my connection and use it as a modem at home but then immediately blew the 10gb limit so i changed for an unlimited one.

I don't really need unlimited now that I have a fiber at home but I also like not to have to worry about limits.
I was a bit confused with Lyca though and I can't remember the issues exactly:
Do I need to top up myself or is it automatic ?
Is it 9.- the 1st month and then 19.- (for the Swiss M package) ? Or is it 9.- forever ? There are 3 prices on the same page it's really confusing.
Also for roaming I could not get it to work: If I switched roaming on in my iphone settings it would not work. I think I read that I had to insert manually the settings to connect to the local network but somehow never managed to get it work properly. How do you do it ?

The 19.- plan (Hello swiss M) must be paid with a credit card through your personal account on the lyca website. You enter your credit card details and check auto-renewal and it is done.

You can't use the top-up balance to pay the plan, you have to pay monthly with a credit card.

Concerning the roaming, here are the steps for an iphone (ios 15.1) :
Settings / Mobile data / Mobile data network. Mobile data / APN : data.lycamobile.ch. LTE Setup (optional) / APN : data.lycamobile.ch. Everything else is blank.
As a reminder, you also have to activate roaming : Settings/Mobile data/Mobile data options/Data Roaming on. I also have Voice & Data set to LTE, not sure if it is important.
Setup tested ok, i am back today from Germany/Austria.

What is it racist about? The origin of Black Friday has nothing to do with racism.
It can’t be said white Christmas anymore…
Similarly it cannot be said Black Swan anymore.
We can’t mention the rainbow colours anymore otherwise there is a specific connotation. And the list can go on and on.

Dunno. It seems not. You need to be all inclusive

Peak boomer content here. No one is stopping you from saying White Christmas, Black Swan or enjoying a frickin rainbow.

Stop taking every person on twitter seriously and live your life.
