[2023] Sunrise 10 Gbit fiber modem - how to remove TV Wifi?

Hello, I've got an annoying problem that maybe some of you managed to solve already. I have a 10 Gbit fiber modem from Sunrise, the bulky "tower" one, and I was fiddling a bit with the configuration. It works well, but I noticed that if I enable the WiFi, the modem *automatically* creates an additional WiFi channel just for the TV, something like "SunriseTVblahblah". I don't want that, I don't even have TV subscription (I got a special plan from Qoqa a few years ago, I have unlimited 10 Gbit connection for 35 CHF/month but without TV). Is there any way to keep the wifi access but removing the annoying additional TV one?

Update: I've realized that this modem is cr*p, it's completely locked down, not only it's not possible to get rid of the annoying extra wifi, you cannot even choose your own DNS or change the internal LAN address range.

why not? Just don't use the DHCP server of the modem and/or put your own device behind.

Yes of course you can use another DNS server client-wise or use another router in cascade (that's what I was doing before). I'm just saying that the Sunrise box itself does not offer this configuration.

Click the red button top right marked 'Expert Mode' and all the settings become available. - screenshot from my own Sunrise 10Gbit tower modem below
DNS, DHCP ranges you name it.

You maybe should have read the manual as it tells you all this

Quote:
3.3Device configuration
The device settings are accessible from the welcome screen by clicking onMy Sunrise Internet
Box. This Section contains the following menus:
Device Info (see Sub-section 3.3.1)
DHCP (only in expert mode; see Sub-section 3.3.2)
DNS (only in expert mode; see Sub-section 0)
DynDNS (only in expert mode; see Sub-section 3.3.4)
Route (only in expert mode; see Sub-section 3.3.5

I dont see any option to remove the TV wifi though but that said can't say i'd even noticed it before you mentioned it.

Huh, me either. Maybe I should connect my TV to it.

You're right, I'm an idiot in my defense, the box is misleading: it looks like it's telling you the mode you're currently in rather than the one you would switch to if clicked - bad GUI design I guess. But I should have checked.

Yeah that much I do agree with - its the opposite of how I would also design the GUI and is misleading.

Re: [2023] Sunrise 10 Gbit fiber modem - how to remove TV Wifi?

By the way, I got rid of the TV WiFi network by merging all networks (i.e. 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz).

Yep, same here (Expert mode is enabled this time) I use joint mode for the wifis but the TV network is still separate and enabled.

Sorry, I checked yesterday and it seems both of you are right . I am almost sure I got rid of the TV network when I had the Connect Box 2 (i.e. cable) but now that I got the Internet Box (i.e. fiber) I see the TV network again.

Exactly what I have done too. Main reason being security.
