Re: Sony Xperia X1

Both digitec and TelePoint Shop has the English version:
http://www.digitec.ch/?param=toppreise&wert=156295
http://www.telepoint.ch/index.php?cm...m&target=28631

You can search in Toppreise.ch for the full overview. Send me a review once you have bought one

I don't know about Swisscom, but I asked in an Orange or Sunrise shop last weekend, and it seems like it comes to shops in Switzerland mid-December....
I'd really like to see this one in real life!

Last edited by Piafia; 19.11.2008 at 12:39. Reason: Orange/Sunrise - don't remember which one

499 CHF ?
That's about half the price I've seen elsewhere without a contract.
I'd definitely try to get one from Swisscom then

I guess, it was too good to be true!
Well, let's see if the without contract price will drop on the otherside of new year....

I was soo close earlier to do the same comment - but I thought maybe I'd be a too oversensitive Swede then...

Re: Sony Xperia X1

Does the Windows Mobile OS come in English (or can it be changed to English)? Several people I know who ordered them via Swisscom in Bern got the German language OS by default. They weren't asked about choosing an OS language, and just assmued they could change the language on their phone, as in the past (they want English or French). But I don't think Windows Mobile offers this? (I think Symbian allows changing language?)

Re: Sony Xperia X1

You can change the default language by "ROM flashing" the OS. Doing so would also void the warranty. In general, you cannot change the WM OS' language.

Re: Sony Xperia X1

you cant change it - you would effectively have to reinstall the windows operating system with english version.

Luckily i got the english version from swisscom! has anyone else got one/thoughts on it? ive had mine 2 weeks and im a bit hmmm about it..

I just e-mailed Swisscom asking if it's available in english. But it looks like you just answered my question (I guess you asked specifically for the OS in english?). Does Sunrise and Orange offer english versions as well?

What is making you "hmmm" about it?

I have not got one yet...but thinking that it would be nice if Santa brings me one (or if I buy one for Santa to bring me...) but there are a few things first to consider:
First, i have not yet been able to hold one in my hand, and silly me - no matter the features if it doesn't feel good in the hand...
Second, I kind of read somewhere that to make only a simple sms or phone a contact that you have to push many buttons...if so, that usually annoys me a bit...

Good info about the OS thing...note to myself to check that before any purchase is done

few things to consider- battery life is supposed to be somthing like 20 days standby - but its nowhere near that and it takes 3/4 hours to charge fully apparently.
it has no special gimmicks or anything like that - i had an o2 XDA when in the UK several years ago and the whole operating system feels and looks exactly the same
messaging is a bit weird and does involve a bit of typing and a fair bit of annoyance and fiddling about
oh, and its one of the most expensive phones in the shop!

i suppose it does what i expected and i'll get used to it but if someone could recommend something better i would consider getting rid......

The new Nokia N97 looks like it might also be worth considering if you like your keyboard phones.
