English football on Swiss tv?

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if Swiss tv show any English football games? I managed to watch Bayern V Lyon in the Champions league and will soon have my Sky box over from the UK but wondered if it was possible to cure my footy fix in the short term. Failing that if there are any English bars showing Prem games that would also do.

Re: English football on Swiss tv?

If you are only looking for a short term fix then pubs (quite a few in Zürich I'm sure) and CL games that might happen to be on national TV are your only choice. Teleclub is a longer term fix for those of us without SKY.

Re: English football on Swiss tv?

You'll have to resort to pubs or just stay home and watch Bundesliga 2 matches. Actually, I got lucky last weekend because the Milan-Inter game was on a channel that I had. I've also caught some pulsating Austrian Bundesliga ties

Re: English football on Swiss tv?

Hi

The Premier League is only shown on Pay-TV (Teleclub/Premiere), DSF (free German Sportschannel) shows highlights on Monday evenings at 10.45 pm.

Champions League is transmitted by the public broadcasters SF2/TSI2/TSR2 and ORF1 (Austrian TV), but tonight's live match will be Basle. Hightlights from the other games follow after the live match.

Re: English football on Swiss tv?

Here is a good website for knowing what games are going to be shown on which channel:
http://liveonsat.com

Looks like you'll have to go to a pub tonight.

The Swiss channels sometimes show CL games with english teams (on the night Basel isn't playing).

Also the french channel (TF1) shows english teams if they are playing against a french team.

Same thing for Austrian and German TV if an english team is playing against a german team.

DSF shows Premier League highlights on Monday nights, at about 10.45, and repeats on Friday evenings.

I think the important question here is...which English team do you really want to watch...helpfulness of answer is dependant on this

Re: English football on Swiss tv?

Apart from the numerous live streaming websites, the best way is really to check on the liveonsat website. If you do not have a satellite dish, then choice is limited to what is shown on the swiss cable. You may be able to watch some Liverpool champions league games on the public channels (or ITV via digital cable), but to see all the CL games and most of the Premiership games live you will need to get Pay TV. On the Swiss digital cable you also have BBC channels showing the premiership highlights on Saturday and Sunday evening.
