Dual SIM phones: are they here yet?

When I was in China a few weeks ago I saw dual SIM mobile phones advertised on TV. That would be really handy to have, instead of me always having to switch between a Swiss phone and a German one (or just swapping the cards, which is even more messy)

Has anyone seen such phones available here yet?

Highlighting the word "yet"--I know they've been in China and maybe other Asian countries for a while now (like years), so I wouldn't expect to see them in Europe mainstream any time soon (or actually, just any time).

As the post above shows, you can get them from specialist outlets.

Re: Dual SIM phones: Iphone dual Sim solution

Is anyone using the dual sim solution from http://www.simore.ch/en/index.php on the iphone.

Does it work well? Do you have to jailbreak the phone?

Re: Dual SIM phones: are they here yet?

Nokia and Samsung make those now, so there is really no need to buy Chinese-no-name-iPhone-lookalikes....

I hear the Nokai X1-01 really does the job.

I am looking for a phone for German and UK use! Carrying three phones around is a bit much. I have clients in Germany and the UK who might be put off calling a Swiss number!

there is a huge difference between that stuff and what is being sold now... the old dual SIM phones only saved you the trouble of switching off the phone and physically switching chips. The new ones allow both chips to be active at the same time - meaning you are available on both numbers simultaneously.

in that case getting a cheapo dual sim phone might be a good option since you only need to receive calls.

another option is to sign-up for VOIP numbers and have them all route to your phone.

You can buy them at the Geneve Airport, so I expect you can get them at other airports too.

Sure. Go to digitec.ch, enter "dual sim" in the search box and you see twenty Samsungs and Nokias available. The touch screen Samsung for 136 CHF on top of the list doesn't even look bad...

Thanks. That looks ideal. Another advantage of this would be that the problem of which phone to connect inthe car goes.

I'd be really interested to hear if anyone has tried this

Re: Dual SIM phones: are they here yet?

I recently bought one of these:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_e265..._duos-3844.php
and I'm quite happy with it! I just wanted a simple phone for phone calls and SMSs and that fits the bill. My main requirements were small-size and low-weight, and while full-feature/smart phones are usually bulky and heavy this not-so-many-features-E2652 is quite "fit" .

Anyway it doesn't seem to be on sale in either Switzerland or Germany, however there's some talk about it in Indian forums so I guess it's a product destinated for emerging markets, or for whatever definition of "emerging" is for Samsung since I bought mine in Portugal!

That C6712 in Digitec's list also seems ok.

The Samsung is available for order from a CH online supplier but with the 15+ day delivery, they are ordering it in from someplace else. You would be better off buying it out of HK or someplace else in Asia and having it shipped in. Probably be a lot cheaper as well.
