well, I don't have Yallo... but a few of my friends do.
Indeed it is the cheapest out of all the other service providers.
If you call Yallo to Yallo it's only 0.05c a min and other calls are 0.39
and text messages are .10c as you mentioned.
however, I am not too sure of the coverage. Don't think it has good coverage near the mountains, but in bigger cities you shouldn'e experience any problem.

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

I use Yallo, no problems around Lugano and it worked fine in Hamburg as well. (Though international roaming is expensive++)

The cheap entry-level Siemens phone they give you is kind of crap, though - might be worth shelling out a few francs extra for something with a slightly better user interface.

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

We have it and love it, 5cts is not much, and the 39 cts abroad is real too. Their online system is handy, calls are listed on the bill realtime almost and are itemized well, recharging is easy online, and you get 30 sms online free I think.

In terms of coverage, I have not been in the mountains yet but the only place I notice _Yallo has less is in large shopping centres. Edit: been in mountain huts where Swisscom of colleagues worked inside, but yallo outside only...

If you decide to sign up and need a referral to earn 20chf and don't know anyone let us know

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

Hi,
Yallo is the cheapest in Switzerland for example when you call yallo to yallo it's only 5 cts per minute, so it's pretty interesting when you and your lover have Yallo. It's also interesting when you call all across Europe, it's everywhere the same price: 39 cts/min.

Concerning the signal, it's Sunrise so it's OK.

For me it's the best prepaid offer

English instructions how to refill your credit

This covers the basics, it is also possible to define an automatic reload with certain bank accounts, but this service is only available in the Swiss national languages online.

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

Yeah Yallo is great. I don't know how they do it!

I lost coverage in some mountain regions, but I'd guess other providers have the same problems in those regions also.

I also find their free online SMS service great. You get 30 per month and you can buy more if you want. The ones you buy are cheaper than the 10 rappen that you normally pay for texts.

Can't beat 39 rappen per min for calls to UK.

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

Yep I have Yallo and so does my Wife. So it's actually cheaper for us to call each other for two minutes than to send one text message.

It's right about shopping centres, seems that we lose coverage in there. It's a bit of pain if you lose each other whilst out shopping, but other than that great. I got the 20CHF card when I arrived back in July and not had to top it up yet. Still 8CHF on it. I had my own unlocked phone so basically it's cost me nothing for the serviceonly 12CHF in calls. Not bad for 3 months.

Strange yallo problems

Do you also have problems that when someone calls, nothing is recorded? I know someone rang as I was too late to pick up, and yet there is no record under missed calls or anything else. This is a yallo sim card and phone (Siemens A70) and I often have this problem, so I have no idea who rang.

Is it just me or is it a Yallo problem or a problem with the Siemens??

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

How about the cost of calling from the UK on a Yallo phone? Presumably dependant on who you're roaming with at the time?

Re: anyone got a Yallo mobile?

I've not really checked out Yallo before, is it really that cheap?

At the moment I use Orange Optima... with that I have 3 numbers I can add (Swiss landline or Orange mobile) and all calls to those 3 numbers are free.
On top I have 100 minutes that are included every month of which I can use for any number in Switzerland or infact all of Europe (+US etc)

SMS is the same price though at 10cts...

I suppose it depends how much you use your phone... basic cost is about 45CHF a month for my subscription.

How much do you use Yallo each month, and what's your average bill like?

Hi Muse7

Maybe a problem with your Siemens. I have Yallo on two mobiles and they both (a Nokia and a Sony Ericsson) show me the missed calls.

My 30 CHF payment for Yallo last several months at least, but that is because I call mostly other Yallo users at 5cts per minute and SMS online with Yallo for free. Overseas calls are 39cts so a few short ones of those count only as much as a call in Switzerland would count for other mobile customers!

So your 100 free minutes a month amount to 5 CHF if only to Yallo mobiles. If only to others, then it is 39 or 49 so your 45 CHF a month in fees does not seem very economical to me...

Interesting, but for example yesterday I called my father in the UK and spoke for 15 minutes, of which were included in my 100 minutes... I also make quite a few calls to France so I reckon it works out pretty economical for me...

It's the 3 'free' numbers that does it for me though...

Still Yallo sounds quite attractive!

I hope this thread is not dead yet. I am thinking of getting Yallo for myself and my husband. How do referrals work???

Also, since I am quite new in Schweiz, I would appreciate insights on roaming charges. E.g. when traveling in Germany or UK, how much a call from a yallo phone would cost?

And another stupid question: are incoming calls free or are they billed the same way as outgoing calls? (for pre-paid phones and contracts?)

Thanks in advance!
