Instant messaging at work blocked? Read on!

I work on a variety of customer sites, and very often find I cannot use MSN because it and its like are blocked by corporate firewalls. Knowing the security risks that are inherent in some of these tools I can understand that, but it's frustrating, because my colleagues and I use MSN to stay in touch while scattered around the world on various projects.

Then I found Meebo. This neat web-based (nothing to install on your or your employers PC) uses only the ports required for web surfing, and works with MSN, Yahoo, Aim, Google Talk and its own Meebo system. Best of all you can combine accounts on all of these and use a single screen. Oh, and did I mention it's free?

Try it at www.meebo.com. Recommended.

Ain't competition wonderful?

Thanks for the link to this site, looks like a fantastic tool. I shall try this later on, as I will be at a remote location, which does not allow MSN / Yahoo.

Re: Instant messaging at work blocked? Read on!

Hello, I had this problem too - I got round by using http://webmessenger.msn.com/

Sounds like it works in the same way as your meebo; there is nothing to install on your computer, it just uses a normal web connection.

I can see everyone's excitement being very shortlived as companies just add these sites to their firewall rules...

Sorry...

It works at my place - your system must be cleverer than ours!
