Turned on the TV this evening and noticed that my Bluewin TV box received a software upgrade... A new option has appeared to choose English for the system!
Though now I'm used to the German and have learned a few new terms so perhaps I won't change it. | The following 2 users would like to thank keandro for this useful post: | |

I noticed the menu colors were different and it had the new Swisscom logo blended in...but I didn't notice the menu was in English until you mentioned it ..i guess I also just got used to the German version...

Now I need to work out how to change my menu language! I too got the software upgrade but only noticed that the colours had changed.
Happy days |

One of the cool new features I discovered after the latest firmware update is the ability to add internet radio stations (worldwide) to the radio lineup on Bluewin TV.
As a former Washingtonian and New Yorker I sometimes tune in over the web to WTOP or WCBS radio. Now I can sit back in my living room and enjoy the 'Osgood Files' or NPR over my stereo. I have my Bluewin box connected to my receiver with an optical cable and the audio quality is great.
You can search for and manage the list of stations through the Swisscom customer portal. https://sam.sso.bluewin.ch/my/data/DoLogin.do?lang=en (See attached image)
btw, their online portal has been majorly improved. You can now change your mobile subscription, options, and even see near real-time data on your telephone calls and unbilled amounts.

Wow, cool. It'll be even better if you could do that with TV channels (ie: select any TV channel in the world and add it to your list)

Has anybody found a way to transer data off the Bluewin TV Set Box to a PC using a USB Transfer Cable?
I used to be able to do this on my Toppy using Altair in the UK. I asked Swisscom about whether this was possible but but they said no.
Thanks!

I don't think so. Swisscom have their own users' forum and the question was also posed there (in French) and the answer was that the connection is not yet active. |

The bluewin box might just be a little linux pc, lots of that sort of thing are.
Maybe you can just pull the hard drive out and plug it in a PC for a while.
cheers,

I can record off BTV to a DVD recorder by taking BTV box Scart O/P TV >> I/P DVD (Scart) and then monitoring with O/P TV from the DVD to the TV set (all SCART connections). But I usually use the HDMI O/P from the BTV to the TV set. Problem is that I cannot get both O/Ps at the same time, Scart and HDMI, from the BTV box, so that when I transfer recordings from the HD on the BTV box to the DVD, I have to disconnect the HDMI input on the TV. Is this normal? If so, is there a way of toggling between the o/ps via the BTV remote?
All help welcome.

Thanks! | | | | | Normally such features are disabled to prevent illegal copying and distribution of TV programs and movies.

Hi Bill.
You mean that you can record from the Bluewin box onto a tape or DVD recordable?
This is good news as I have several recordings on my Bluewin box that I would dearly love to have on a DVD.

No.

You could at least mention what you wanted recorded ... someone else might have already recorded it, you could borrow it from them on VHS tape or something
cheers,

... | | | | | Yes, with connections as described I can obtain good SD recordings from my BTV box to my DVD recorder/ player. The only slight hitch is I have to disconnect the HDMI input to my TV during recordings as I cannot simultaneously have video o/ps ex BTV on the Scart o/p and the HDMI o/p.

I just wish they'd also add More 4, E4 and Five - Channel 4 really isn't that much fun without More 4 and E4...
