Hi,

I used an Orange dongle with my Asus eeepc (which runs some flavor of debian), worked very well.

I recently switched to Swisscom mobile unlimited - but haven't checked if it works on Ubuntu. I'll give it a try and post again in a couple of minutes.

Ok, this was easy - I just tried my Swisscom USB dongle (I have the Sierra Wireless Compass 885) with Ubuntu (9.04). Worked immediately without any kind of setup - I plugged it in, it got recognized, showed up in the network tab, I hit "connect" and it worked!

regards,

Peter

Do you have the same dongle? I think Swisscom sells quite a variety of different ones. I remember asking for one that works on Mac OS and got the Compass (that's the black one with the SD-card) - perhaps others don't work so well
