Channel 4 now on Swisscom

I know there is already a thread about Cablecom adding a few UK channels, but I thought Swisscom users might be interested in this.

I found Channel 4 at 162 on the channel list.

No channel 5.....yet ??

Re: Channel 4 now on Swisscom

From July 1st, Swisscom is adding 9 new channels to Bluewin TV.

For English, looks like FIVE, E4, and More 4. Great!

La Télé. New regional broadcaster for the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg, the district of Monthey and the municipality of Céligny.
Rai Storia. Italian cultural channel showing documentaries and special-interest programmes.
FIVE. The UK channel offers an attractive mix of programmes, consisting of films, series, shows and lifestyle magazines.
E4. Mainly shows films, series and various entertainment programmes.

And Film 4 (although not sure if that's always been available but watching it now!)

Re: Channel 4 now on Swisscom

I was wondering... With all of the English language programming and multi-channel recording features of the Bluewin box, why do people bother with this satellite nonsense? Let me know if I'm wrong, but it seems to be a lot of hassle to install, constantly re-align, fake an address in the UK, plus the ugliness of the dish. Am I missing something? Are there that many more interesting channels?

Re: Channel 4 now on Swisscom

Because there are about 500 more channels (most of them crap admittedly) but you don't get the sky1, 2, 3 channels, sky movies, sky sports etc.... Bluewin has the basic ITV's BBC's, C4 and Film 4 but that's about it. Not that I'm complaining. After a month of 1 German channel, I'm over the moon!

Because there are stacks more channels available and you only need to fake an address in the UK if you're trying to fiddle Sky.
If you don't want Sky packages you don't need the UK address. As for re-aligning a satellite dish - if you do it properly the first time and make sure it's fitted firmly you don't need to re-align - I've never re-aligned because I needed to. You can hide some modern dishes too. I do agree though, if you're not into it, a box arrangement is simpler to set up.

There are many reasons:-

1: HD is not available in all areas
2: Double recording 2 channels is not available in all areas
3: One you have the equipment, no more cost other than a subscription.
4: Can run up to 8 receivers from one dish.
5: Multisatellite can give you most of the Bluewin channels.
6: Choice of receiver - Bluewin is what it is, no deviation
7: Films in English

I should add I watch English, French and German TV and have both SKY and Bluewin TV, from the beginning mainly for French TV, I live in the German region. I can now do more with my satellite equipment that my Bluewin box and I am cancelling my Bluewin subscription.

On the plus side for Blue Win, it is great for people who want the main English channels and cannot point a dish southwards. I know that you can have a second Blue Win Box, but this is extra cost, but when the children want to watch a channel and the adults another then it is difficult.

I also encourage everyone to watch the local channels also to 'learn the language' if necessary and to take the best TV from everything available either from satellite or Bluewin TV.
