Has anyone had trouble recording programs from Five? It was working fine for me until a week ago. It shows it is recording, but after the program has finished it isn't saved.
Any ideas?

Any ideas? | | | | | Same happened to me. I recorded NCIS and CSI:NY last Saturday but they never showed up in the recordings even though the red light had been on. I just shrugged it off as a one-off glitch but if you're getting the same thing happening too, maybe it's a system fault?
Edit: it also just recorded NCIS this evening - finished a minute or two ago - and, again, nothing on the recordings menu plus it 'lost' the simultaneous recording of Hotel Babylon. So I figure Five is messing up the recorder with a gremlin.
So who gets to hassle Cablecom on this one? I'll do it - I so enjoy being annoying! ;-)

The week before, it was fine. I had chalked it up to a one-off too, until this morning. I just tried to record a random Five program tonight and it did the same thing.
If you'd pester them, that would be great! Please let us know what you find out!

I sent the online form today and the phone pestering will begin just as soon as I can open with 'you've not even responded to my online query'.
I'm going to try a system reset today, see if that works - maybe with a hard disk reset too. Just a few hours of random recordings to watch first.
Let me know if you resolve the problem - and how you did it.

I'm not so sure a system reset would work, as we're both having this problem and only with one channel. But let me know how you get on with it!
Anyone else having this problem, or is just us?

Not sure if its connected but I've been losing my tv guide quite a bit recently and sometimes when the guide reappears I've lost my planned recordings and had to go through and set them up again. Can't be bothered in phoning cablecom as last time I tried to get in touch with them I was on hold for 30 minutes Am hoping this is just a temporary issue as its only been the last 2 weeks that my tv guide has been erratic and not wanted to display whats on.

I'm glad it's not just me. I've just got back from a week's holiday and set up the mediabox to record several things, including 2 popular Australian dramas which I was, ahem, recording for a friend. Both were on Five. Everything recorded except for these 2 programmes, so that's 10 episodes over the week that failed. Just tried a random recording on Five and same problems/symptoms as mentioned above.
I'm going to send off a form now.

I'm liking this co-ordinated action with the Cablecom forms. It's all very customer-power. I bet we all get blacklisted & billed double!
Your 'friend' will be so disappointed Blakey - a week's worth of Aussie soaps just gone. Don't they run omnibus editions on a weekend?
As for recording from Five, I did a full factory reset with disk initialisation then tried recording the news bulletin. With back-to-back films on, it was the only thing I could find to use for my experiment. The recording was successful!!
I'm still going to watch NCIS & CSI:NY real time but will leave them to record - if it works, I'll post back to confirm the reset plus initialisation is the way to go.

I think there are "omnibii", but they are unfortunately on Saturday morning. My friend will have to accept the it has just gone.
I look forward to hearing if your recordings work. I've got a lot of stuff to watch before I can do the reset though.

The NCIS recording that just finished was not saved to the recordings menu so it looks like the reset didn't do the trick.
Back to bombarding Cablecom with online forms then ...

I just submitted another online form. I hadn't had an automated acknowledgement of the earlier one so decided to try again. Come to think of it, I might send off another one tomorrow, too.

Re. the Channel Five dodgy recording thing - I got a reply from CC! That is an achievement of sorts, normally their customer 'service' peeps ignore any emails.
Don't get too excited - the reply said I could fix this by doing a system reset. Grrr, worse than useless! P'raps I should've mentioned I'd already done one and it still didn't work.
Anyone else get a sensible answer from our CC friends?
Oh well, a couple more email forms then I'm hitting the phone - roughly 2 1/2 words of French from me (I use my cellphone to access the language options) and they're begging me to 'please, speak English with us'
I've got some work related training Weds thru Fri then am away on hols so will definitely try to get it sorted today.

I got the same reply. "Please reset the mediabox manually" This despite me writing in my original email in block capitals, that I had already done a system reset and it failed to resolve the problem. Either a moron received my email, or it's an automated response that is sent in reply to any technical problem.

I think it is the canned response, here's my mail that just came in: | Quote: | | | | Dear Ms. evilshell,
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
To resolve your issue, you can manually reset the cablecom mediabox recorder. By doing so, the recorder is reset to the original settings.
Note: When resetting, all of your personal settings will be lost.
To manually reset the recorder, simultaneously press the Menu key on the front of the mediabox recorder and the left arrow key for five seconds. Release the keys when the welcome screen disappears from view.
We hope you will find this information helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Adrian Limacher

I wrote back and told them I'd already done it, let's see if that goes into a black hole. |

Yep, it was a moron - we're talking CC's customer disservice department. The automated reply is generally 'we got your email, wait half a lifetime or so and we may answer you'; of course, I'm paraphrasing a little! ;-)
Let's keep pestering them till they crack.

| | | | | That's exactly the email I got - same person and everything. I replied to the email address, but I'm wondering now if it's automated, will it actually end up in a real person's mailbox.

By the way, I've just discovered that pause and rewind don't work on Five either. I went out leaving the mediabox on Five thinking I would just rewind back to the programmes that I had missed (which shall remain nameless). No joy.
I would like to get this sorted...CSI Miami starts tonight!
