Appliances from India?

I'm planning to bring some electrical appliances from India (specifically TV, music system/dvd player and kitchen blender). According to this, both Switzerland and India are 230V, 50Hz. The only difference seems to be in the plug type, but the site also says type C plugs (India) are common in Switzerland and should fit type J (Swiss) plugpoints. I'll get some plug adaptors.

So it should just be a case of plug 'n' play without anything blowing up?

I searched the Forum but didn't find anything India-specific. Thank you for your responses.

Re: Appliances from India?

C type will work on Swiss outlets. Your grounded plugs will need adapters, or if you will be here a while it's easiest to just cut off the plug and install a Swiss grounded plug. You can get plugs almost anywhere, and they are not expensive (and not hard to intall- just a sharp knife and a screwdriver).

if you want Indian food here, you WILL want to cook. I don't know about elsewhere, but Indian food possibilities in Zurich mostly suck.

besides the pressure cooker, you will want to carry the whatchamacallit for rolling the rotis. and of course, carry as much spices as you can ...
