| | installing a satellite dish in doors
Hi,
I am considering moving to a new apartment which does not have a balcony. It does have a huge south facing window which I think presents the oppurtunity to erect the dish indoors and point it south via the window. Does anyone know if this is a viable option ?

It could be as long as it's untreated double-glazing. But ..... consider the fact that you will lose 20% or more of the signal through the windows.

I must read the other threads on this... I had visions of Jodrell bank on the balcony blotting out the sun...

Assuming you're after english TV, 60cm isn't enough - 80cm will do about 98% of the time - you might loose signal in the worst rainstorms (I have to wipe my LBN dry every hour or so when it rains).
Somewhere (sorry - no idea where any more) I've seen transparent dishes which might be a useful option if the dish will otherwise block part of your window

Astra 2D small footprint transponder for all that luverly English language stuff: 90cm recommended.
I still want one of these.

Can't you mount a bracket outside the window?

I would probably find some way of getting a signal but its a lot of money to fork out on the off chance... Sadly Im a converted sky man and the thought of any alternative horrifies me |

I wouldn't even ask.
There are so many sats going up all over the place these days. It's not a permanent fixture, there is no drilling or plugging. You can also get a dish to more or less match the colour of the walls so that it kind of blends in.

the issue might be if they deny your right to have a visible dish....
If they do....
If they don't.....
Stress that it involves no drilling and no damage.

Awesome. I'm searching for a new appartment, and with this baby it could remove the requirement of a south facing balcony... very handy.
