Re: Your ONE Favourite Film

It has to be 84 Charing Cross Road. Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins star in the true story of Helene Hanff (in New York) corresponding with a bookseller Frank Doel. I can remember seeing a trailer for it when it first came out and I thought it sounded dull, but a few years later when I was first allowed a TV in my room and I stayed up late watching anything I could and this was on. And how wrong I was, it is a lovely enchanting film which still makes me laugh and cry every time I watch it.

One of the great love stories of all time - with a realistic sad ending.

Sharkey. I know that this may be very inconvenient for you and also I understand that it might set a precedence which may cause you further problems with other EFfers by giving me preferential treatment, just because I didn't give my post enough thought. However I haven't been able to stop worrying about the fact that the film I said was the best film ever was actually a bit rubbish. Just this once, would you please allow me to post another one. I promise, it won't be as rubbish as the last one.

We liked Cars too, and Daddy approved of the moral of the story.

Quentin Tarantino talking about his favourite movies since 1992. Note his comments about Matrix and the sequels.

You'll get no preferential treatment from me, Brightonite. As I've said before, I discriminate equally against all.

If you feel your selection does not accurately reflect what your favourite film is, feel free to go ahead and change it. But I expect that after more contemplation, you will stun us all by recommending THE masterpiece of the cinematic art, and we will kick ourselves for forgetting such a gem.

Yeah, I agree Matrix II & III blew it.

I always through Matrix I was a fluke they could not repeat, which makes it even more unique.

Thanks Sharkey, I'd hate to let you down with this one. I know it is quite an old movie, but for me it was inspirational.

Re: Your ONE Favourite Film

I find it really difficult to choose my best. I have a long, long list but I'll say this one as it was the last of my favourites that I have recently watched.

Betty Blue

I have only ever seen the directors cut so I would have to recommend that you watch that rather than the shorter version.

Be prepared to cry, a lot.

Haven't read any of the previous, just posting from the heart. A Star is Born, Kris Kristofferson & Barbra Streisand. Fabulous.
