What to do with old computer equipment?

Hi

I have been given the task of getting rid of/recycling my company's old computer equipment (screens, laptops etc).

What is the best way to go about doing so?

If you just want to see the back of them, take them to the Brockenhaus- you'll help a good organisation, and also the student who goes there to buy his computer accessories every once in a while. I take all my old things there- if they can resell it they thank you and give you a voucher, and if they can't they charge you almost nothing to get rid of it. Hope this helps.

Re: What to do with old computer equipment?

If they are to be thrown away, and only a few pieces, any shop that sells computers are suppose to accept them. Interdiscount, for example. There is a fee added to the price of electronic equipment for disposal. That means you've already paid for its disposal.

If the computers are still good, perhaps a dealer my take them off your hands. Perhaps there is a non-profit organization that could take them off your hands for under-privileged kids. Yeah, I know.... there are few under-privileged kids in CH. But perhaps they could be used for something.

As far as I know, computer equipment sold in Switzerland already includes the cost for recycling in its purchase price (SWICO Tax). You can have a look on SWICO's web site to find the best way to dispose of it.

A (somewhat) related question; what about spare PC parts (Gfx cards, motherboards etc) which have become redundant after upgrading. Do they have much resale value if 18mths+ old?

Re: What to do with old computer equipment?

Hi ,
I founded an association with two other friends. I'm looking for old computers in order to create a learning center for ICT in Ivory Coast. You can go on our website www.kachile.com (under construction) to get an idea of who we are. I would be delighted to tell you more. This would help a lot.
Thank you for your reply.

You could put them to good use, a make a super-computer from old computers:

Re: What to do with old computer equipment?

I have one suggestion, you can announce in your office if someone wants (also you can sell these with a nominal cost among your colleagues, benefit for your office too) .... and then dump whatever left.

If you have the plane to give off. Please give it to me for a minimal price. I will pick it up. It all depends on you.
