Need Long Cablecom Cable

I recently hooked up Cablecom, but they only provided me with a three meter-long cable to hook up from the wall to the cable box. Any ideas where I can get a five meter cable? I picked one up today but it doesn't fit the jack on the Cablecom box. I went to a Cablecom service center, but no dice there (language barrier - sigh). I even called Cablecom and they said they only provide three meter-long cables because any longer, and it can distort the transmission, even though the Cablecom site says they don't recommend anything over five meters, not just three meters.

I will be forever indebted to whom ever can offers some guidance. Thanks!

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

Just get an Ethernet cable 2 meter longer than your current ethernet Cable between the cable modem and your PC.
These are easier to find.

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

I had the same problem, but I needed 10-15 metres. I went to Mediamarkt and a guy there gave me some cables and adapters, but they didn't fit, although he told me they would. Instead I ended up placing the cable box close to the wall, and bought a 10 metres HDMI cable to the TV. Maybe that works for you as well?

Edit: Just saw the post above mine. If original poster wants to know about Cablecom internet, ignore my reply

Try MediaMarkt. They sell cables which labelled "HD" so they shouldn't distort the signal. I was in the same situation, so did this with a 10 m wire and it works fine (HD recorder box)

the digital TV connection is plugged into a separate socket in the wall albeit right next to the internet plug. It's independent of internet connection.

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

It's actually not the ethernet cable, but the cable to the cable box. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

ahhh...i like the idea. I'll have to look into that. Did you ever find a long enough cable box cable, or did you forgoe the idea once the HDMI cable was set up? Thanks!

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

Was it directly from the wall to the cable box? Do you remember the brand? Is it called an aerial cable or something else? Many thanks!

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

I went thru exactly the same issue before and ended up connecting two 3mtr cable (both from cablecom) using a radio splitter.

(only T-splitter with white insulation at the center worked for me)

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

Thanks, Wenggo! Did Cablecom just send you the 3m cable or did they charge you?

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

Got it for free at their service center. You can also ask for splitter. Hopefully its the right one as my other two T-splitter without the white shield inside didnt work. Goodluck!

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

Long cables can attenuate the signal and loss of picture quality.

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

I thought you could go up to 5 meters - http://www.cablecom.ch/en/faq_detail.htm?id=298 - and still keep the integrity of the picture?

Re: Need Long Cablecom Cable

I found one up to ten meters in Hornbach Villeneuve, but I have also seen them in Fust. Good Luck.
Try translating your queries on the computer on the translate program before venturing into these specialist places. I write my little skits and if I can't make myself understood after long rehearsals,or go blank, I let them read it !

No, I stopped looking. So the cable box is still behind the couch. I was afraid I would have to point the remote control towards the back of the couch instead of to the TV (would feel a bit awkward), but the remote control signals bounces on the TV to the cable box. Works really well!
