Sky box but no signal - Can anyone offer any tips?

Hey guys,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help.

I bought a second hand sky box last weekend. It came with all the relevant cables and card but while i get the sky screens on the TV, it comes up with 'error 29 - no signal received'.

We've tried plugging into the cable into the satellite router on the wall (which we use for the basic German channels - the box goes to the apartment roof -everyone in our building uses sat because we don't have cable in our area)... That failed, so we tried attaching the cable to the satellite which came with the box - still no joy.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance

Dummies Guide: Satellite install for free to air channels. No monthly fees - cheap

Is the thread you need.
Unfortunately Lob Rockster is MIA but if you post questions there I'm sure people will be able to help.

Use dishpointer.com to see if the dish is pointing at the right satellite. Make sure there is a direct cable from the dish to the box to make sure it works and then you can see if it works through the cabling.

Re: Sky box but no signal - Can anyone offer any tips?

seriously, if you get many german channels from the connection, it's not pointing at 28 east but rather 19 east where all the german channels are located.

The clue is in the "We've tried plugging into the cable into the satellite router on the wall (which we use for the basic German channels" for me
