TBH, installing a Sky dish is not that difficult. You just need to point the dish at 28.2E (of magnetic South meaning to the left when you stand behind the dish) and tilt the dish to around the 20-25dgr mark.
There is a Strength and Quality bar reading built into the SKY Firmware (on the box) and you can ignore the Strength reading as it is the quality reading which must read at least 50%.
With a little fiddling around you can get it up and running in no time and there are some really good and very helpful sat forums you can use. I started out this way and after a little while you will become a pro ;-) Oh, and you will save a bundle of cash on installation.
Just remember that the bigger the dish the better. According to
SES website, Astra 2D (for the free BBC/ITV and CH4 line up) a dish between 90-120cm should do the trick in most of CH. There may be spots where smaller size dishes will do the job, but remember that bad weather (heavy snow and rain) can leave you with no picture... There should not be any obstructions between the dish and to where it is going to point (rule of thumb, obstacle X meters high, dish should be placed twice the distance of X), If you can see the sun at midday then you know in what general direction the dish should be pointing.
Hope this helps :-)
