Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

It seems that the English audio option for the channel Eurosports have disappeared and the video quality is very poor. I just noticed it this weekend. Is it only me having this problem or the cable guys have done something? I remember retuning all the channels few weeks back. I don't have a setup box or anything, just the normal cable connection thats available in all apartments.

Re: Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

It still works for me.

I just got a DVB-C box so that I can get all the digital channels that the cable company offers. When I use that box, Eurosport only seems to come in German. When I run the cable directly to the TV (no digital tuner) Eurosport is available in English or German. Picture quality is better without the digital box as well.

Assume you have already messed with the audio settings on your TV?

Re: Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

I know I'm dredging up an ancient tomb thread, but better than getting yelled at for not doing a search...

Has anyone else noticed the English language option missing from Eurosport? I've been watching the French Open all week and find it strange they don't offer the English option. But generally I've noticed it for a while. I'm starting to wonder if it's just my connection (basic cable connection that comes with the nebencosten).

ITV has been doing the coverage for the tennis and therefore eurosports dont have an english person commentating.

I find with eurosports that it depends what they are showing weather or not they have the english option.

cheers

Thanks SC, that's what I figured but wanted to make sure.

They better make sure they give the English for the Tour de France otherwise I'll, I'll --yeah... -- keep growling and grumbling at the TV and pretty much nothing else.

Re: Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

We stopped getting the English commentary too. I accepted that we could no longer get BBC Prime and I didn't mind just having the German on Eurosport so very much (I'd have preferred it if they had not talked QUITE so much though) but 'Game, Set and Mats' with Annabelle and Mats speaking lovely, lovely English and some -er 'person' translating over the top - both broadcast at more or less the same volume so that my brain keeps listening to both and understanding neither - really, really got under my skin - was the last straw which broke this camel's back. We now have HD/Digital or whatever it all called with real English Eurosport and BBC and ITV as well. The price we pay is simply the price for me keeping my sanity. (no comments on this remark, thank-you).

Re: Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

One question.

Its been more than a year since i moved to Zurich. The only english channel that comes with our cable connection (standard one which is there in all appartment i guess- I am not paying anything for this ) is CNN and sometimes MTV. Is there a way in which I can swicth the language of these channels ? (Eurosports to english etc ..?) without any set top box etc..

VV

If your TV has a dual language option.......YES.

Also note that many Swiss and French channels that show films and american tv shows can also be changed to english.

cheers

Re: Eurosports english option: Are you still getting it?

Hi SC,

Yest I spent almost an hour on my TV (settings etc ) and was not able to see any channels in English. may be that feature is not there in my signal . I was trying different options on Euro sports channel.

I am almost sure that my TV has that option, may be its the signal.

BR,
Vinod

I can't get the English commentary now on ES either, for all sports. After a few of my favourite programmes were dropped by cablecom I was angry but at least left with Eurosport English. But for me too, cycling and tennis meet my wishes only in English. I looked at various options but find them all too expensive just for my limited requirements.

Question: May I ask who your HD/Digital supplier is and what you pay?
