Mysterious Yallo mobile problems

I have Yallo prepaid and my phone has trouble connecting.

It will normally look for Yallo and then say Yallo on screen, indicating it has found the network. Now recently I only get DiAx which is Sunrise, and I cannot phone or be phoned on this. The network is basically disconnected (flashing signal strength) and the phone is rendered useless.

I cannot manually go to Yallo as a preferred network as it is not listed in my settings. (The phone only has Diax, Swisscom and Orange).

Has anyone had this problem with Yallo? For some reason it is worse in kanton Neuchatel than in Kanton Bern, although this could be coincidence.

I should add that my phone got slightly wet; perhaps this is the cause although I do not see how it gets better when I shift kantons again?

Re: Mysterious Yallo mobile problems

Well if I were you I would try phoning Sunrise/Yallo and talk to them first - I'm not sure anyone on this forum will be able to explain this problem better than they can.

A couple of things. Yallo is working on the sunrise network, which is why it comes up with DiAx. If you send me your phone number (via private) I will ask for it to be checked on the network.

Re: Mysterious Yallo mobile problems

Just to update the forum....

there is nothing wrong on the network side )

It could be a faulty phone and/or sim card. Apparently this can happen when a phone is unloacked with a firmware update. Easy to check with another phone though.....

Re: Mysterious Yallo mobile problems

I unlocked it with the code given to me by Vodafone. It worked fine for two weeks until I ended up in a thunder storm with the phone and it became humid on the inside.

Weird thing is, this problem with it locking on to DiAx was exactly the problem before I unlocked it (no firmware used, I just typed in the code given to me).

So I am wondering now if the electronics that have been damaged/correded can somehow put the phone back into an unlocked state.

Vodafone says thought this is not possible.

Anyway, good to know the Yallo network is not the cause.

I have the same problem! I bought an i-mobile phone in Thailand, and when I placed Yallo SIM card back in Switzerland, I got DIAX reception. I can receive or place calls and SMS, so I wonder if Yallo and Diax are by the same operator...

Indeed they are. sunrise & diax were seperate companies 7 years ago or so.

Then they merged under the banner of sunrise. A lot of the mobile network elements still have "diax" in their name though.

Yallo is a prepaid service from sunrise....
