Anyone else struggling for internet speed in Switzerland this afternoon?

I have the Hispeed 15000 service from Cablecom which normally performs to its specifications but today has got progressively slower on download to the point that now it is performing at 0.28 MB/s download (v. the normal 14 or 15 Mb/s!) with a ping speed of 159ms (v. the normal 15-20). It is absolutely fine on upload speed though.

I have put a complaint into Cablecom and am waiting to hear back. I was wondering if this is a problem unique to me or whether the rest of Switzerland is suffering? Too many kids on holiday staying in on a rainy day downloading?

I'm stealing it from one of the neighbors...so it's always a little slow.

Re: Anyone else struggling for internet speed in Switzerland this afternoon?

Mines been up and down for the past couple of days, but I don't really do much in the way of heavy downloading, so not really a problem for me.

Maybe it's the Christmas and new year period where people are off work and using the home internet more.

Sunrise ADSL. Working with upload/download speeds as advertised. With Cable modems, don't you have an issue with contention and how far away from the server you are?

Thanks for the replies. It stayed bad all evening (almost completely unusable) and I'm pleased to report is back to full speed again now (00:12). Almost like it reset at midnight and all is well.

No problem here with Bluewin ADSL. Just downloaded the latest episode of TopGear in HD and now watching the boys drive into Chile in their cars.

That's a superb episode - I don't envy the lads the drive at 17,000ft without oxygen.
