Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

Hi,

I bought an LG LCD TV from an online shop, OHC-Computer, which is in Zürich and usually gives good bargain on some products, but don't let them paint your eyes !

If you want to buy anything electronic go to digitec.ch, best in town.

I bought this TV and there was damages on both sides of the package. When I opened it I saw that there is also scratch on the screeen. Next morning, I took it back to the shop. They accept that the one side is a transport damage but the other side was not and I made it ! For once I thought am I crazy or do they lie to me? Cause I am so crazy (verrückt) that I pay 1050CHF for such a TV and then tear it apart then go all this s..t to get my money back...

After some discussion the guy accepted the TV back saying me that they will get the money from the Post and give my money back. Later Post also didn't accept the damage and OHC computer also told me that they dont accept any responsibility !!! Later I tried to go to Court but then I gave up, it's a very long story. They simply lie, first they accepted that there is transport damage later they said no there was no damage on the package. Then I ask if there was no damage and if you think that I did it and trying to cheat you, why did you took the TV back and why did you apply to die Post for Transport Damage. So in any case they tried to cheat also Post....

so to cut a long story short, I tell you DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM OHC-COMPUTER and such small private online companies are ok as long as you buy something and you are happy with it. Once there is a problem there you go, you will be all alone....

go to digitec.ch or go to stegcomputer or such big companies...

tell also your friends about these unfortunate-online-electronic-buying- experiences...

In case you get a damaged parcel - either write on the delivery form/lieferschein/note de livraison that the goods or packages are damaged and have it countersigned (keep a copy) and follow it up within 5 days.
Alternatively, do not accept the package...

Otherwise it's just your word against theirs...

Re: Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

I sympathise with your predicament and can only encourage others to take your advice. I think it best to deliver your own TV home if possible. Also be very careful about repackaged display items. They will sometimes be sold without warning or discount.

I have found it quite shocking just how blatantly some companies in the Zurich area refuse to accept any responsibility for their actions. Any hint of a mistake on their part and they run a mile.

I watched our stuff being dropped by a removals delivery guy from a 'leading' Zurich removal firm. Regional manager came and noted damage. Head office refused phone calls and refused to accept responsibility. Corporate manners here can leave a lot to be desired.

Post office can be just as bad. Paid to have something sent registered to the UK. It did not arrive. I was lead to believe that 100CHF would be paid as a minimum in this event but no - needed receipts for everything! Complete waste of money sending it einschreiben. I did not have receipt for the notary fee for the notary document, nor did I have my train tickets used to visit the notary, but most particularly how can I receipt the hours spent preparing this document and getting it signed

It is very much a case of buyer beware in this neck of the woods at times as some companies/organisations are loathe to take repsonsibility. Not that this is unique to Zurich/Switzerland - just found it disappointing in an otherwise 'efficient' society that so few have sufficient spherical appendages to admit responsibility and take action.

I'm afraid this is the same in the UK. My friend's registered letter got lost on the way to Europe and he had to provide the receipts (which he didn't have so he provided them with receipts that were not directly related) to get his money back.

But I agree, I find it very annoying that no-one is responsible for the goods damage. I guess it makes sense to insure the package? That's what I do anyway.

Re: Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

I bought my TV from Digitec, and so far a great experience. I learned, when they brought it out, that it would be too big to fit in my car.

So on a Thursday at 5pm, they arranged to have it delivered by 8pm that night...for only 30 CHF. And the Post guy helped me carry it up to my flat up 4 flights of stairs (a 50" plasma!).

Have to say I am happy with them so far. The price of the TV dropped a few days later. In the US, I could ask for that money back. Doubt that would fly here!

This is something that I have stated many times before. You do have to be careful in Switzerland...period...when making purchases. "Once they get your money they are finished with you"...People can say that it happens in other countries too, but more so in Switzerland. A friend of mine bought a bed for their child in Switzerland and the company delivered the wrong one. The company actually wanted her to "pay" to deliver the right one! You also have to be careful when you are an expat or foreigner (auslander) they see more reason to take advantage of you...especially if you don't speak the language so well etc...Of course not all companies are this way in Switzerland but never-the-less it is a constant complaint among many...

+1 for this warning.

I have just personally witnessed how disgracefully and insolently this company (OHC Computer GmbH) treats its customers when they cannot deliver. Avoid at all costs.

Re: Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

Doesn't really matter where you buy. Always take the opportunity to at least open the box and have a quick look at the contents. I did that when ordering my TV and the delivery courier didn't mind. If there was a problem, I would not accept the package. If there's physical damage, it's very difficult to prove who actually caused it.

On one other occasion, I ordered a sofa at Micasa. They brought the wrong color and when my wife noticed that on delivery. They apologized and offered to leave it at our place, for us to use, until they can bring the correct one. They also assembled (and then again disassembled it on pickup) completely free of charge. After the correct one was delivered, we waited almost half a year for the bill to finally arrive. For a while I actually thought we got the sofa for free ;-).

I join the club of "Do not buy" from OHC computers. (http://www.ohc24.ch/)

Not a TV but a DDR RAM memory kit...

it's simple, they ignore emails (it's been above 7 days that I emailed them twice). Why? probably so you call that:
Unsere Hotline 0900 000 048 (1,19 CHF/Minute, aus dem Festnetz).

They also lied terribly, saying that there's many items in stock but they are not sending anything, delays are already bypassed.

Same story than everyone here: price was not even the cheapest (found on toppreise.ch), just they said they had stocks, so I went for them.

Actually the same item was not available on Digitech or microspot (2 safer choices).

Re: Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

Sorry to hear,

i usually order online and pickup at the store - that is what I did for my TV.

But high ticket items I usually prefer to pickup at the store.

Hope all works well for you,

Re: Do not buy TV from online shops, especially from OHC-Computer !!!

Does anyone know if it's possible to unwrap a purchase when it's delivered before the delivery man has left then, if it's damaged, you can refuse to accept it and make him take it back, even if it's a third party delivery company?

I often wonder if this would make the whole procedure a lot more simple. I know that most delivery men are usually off like a scalded cat as soon as you've signed the documents but it might be worth a try.

It should be. But not really necessary.

Especially that you usually have 24hours to report a damage on delivery.
Check the terms and conditions of your delivery contract.

Then one needs to fill the form, prove the damages, etc...
That way the "delivery insurance" will have to do something, and the issue will move to "the shop-delivery compary" as opposed to "you-the shop".

Of course they will be pain in the ars3 about it, and they'll put lot of administration cr@p to deter you from it.

Example: It will take approx 10 days just for their first reply, and easily 30 days.
Even the "pickup" of the damage item can be up to 30 days...

http://www.ups.com/content/ch/en/resources/sri/cla_faq10.html?srch_pos=2&srch_phr=damage#top

Moreover, they'll send someone to pick the item back without warning you or informing you in advance, and then because that person has "allegedly" tried to come and you were not here, the whole "damage claim report" will be cancelled.

Which you can easily contest by asking them to prove by your signature that you have actually rejected anything...

But that's how it is and how sneaky they will be.

I'm not sure.
ISTR that in Germany, this does not count.
I don't know what these guys earn in Switzerland, but in Germany, they simply have no time for this as they are not paid by the hour...

In the long run, the only thing that works is avoiding such companies, spreading the word and letting them go out of business.

I use this opportunity to raise the warning again!

It's been 12 days I haven't received my memory RAM. The item was on stock (they claimed they had more than 13 items).

It stated 2-3 days on the website, but they lied.

Now the status has changed and it's supposed to be on delivery, but I still haven't received anything.

So 2 weeks for a item that was supposed to be 2-3 days.

Congratulation, you've earned a honest negative review on toppreise and I will spread the word on how terrible they are.

PS: don't even bother emailing they ignore.
They also claim they will reply 1 to 2 business day, but again it's been a week with no replies.

I suppose there is a simple explanation, they are on a slower time zone dimension? Maybe 1 week for us, basic stupid customers, equals to 1 day for them?

Ha of course you always have the option to contact:
0900 000 048 (1,19 CHF/Minute)

(so the 2CHF I "saved" by choosing that shop over decent honest retailers such as digitech, would be long gone.)

Not only they screw up but they also ignore the customer and attempt to make them call their stupid overcharged phone line.

My colleagues have already heard that funny incident, and I doubt they'll ever shop there.
That's how we are, geeks VS terrible online business retailer.

Let's see how long they can survive with treating customers like that.

Once I went to OHC in Glatt and picked up an item. It was not a particularly friendly place. Unsmiling salespeople.
I would report them to Consumer Protection-and threaten them as well.
