Broadband Lausanne?

Which broadband provider in Lausanne (fixed line) in your experience is the best in terms of reliability and price?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Broadband Lausanne?

I have Swisscom, and am satisfied as far as your criteria go. I also have internet with them, and the TV with 170 stations.

My bill comes to 130 CHF a month, including calls, with a few international ones too.

Hope this helps.

Re: Broadband Lausanne?

Swisscom here too, and no problems at all in nearly two years. I think it's been down once for a couple of hours in all that time, and the connection speed always seems perfectly fine (hubby does little speed tests every now and again, the techie).

I too have the 20-something speed internet/TV/phone package - the flat fee for this is 110 chfs a month, then calls on top.

Re: Broadband Lausanne?

If you are in Lausanne proper, you should look at City Cable as well. It is run by the city. They have TV, Internet and Phone. Packages for the three as well.

Here is the link. Hopefully you have some French because the site is not in English.

Re: Broadband Lausanne?

Thanks for the advice !
I went to Swisscom shop in Flon today and got advice from a lovely lady there, although it seems I have to take a landline phone or mobile contract to enable me to get Broadband???
Which being Scottish & tight as 2 coats of Craig & Rose I'm not too chuffed about as u can imagine! 25chf for mobile + 49chf for Broadband!! why can't I purchase broadband on it's own?
I'll look into the other options you have given and see if I can save a wee bit!

Cheers again

JC

Dragging this one back from the grave......

I'm thinking of going with the city cable when I move to lausanne, Any caveats I should know about? My french is still pretty non existant so I'm not sure if I have to take a TV package with them too if I want to get an internet connection. Anyone know if you do?

Yep, you do also have to get the TV package with them. It says so in very small letters on the first page of their flyer (http://www.citycable.ch/img/depliant.pdf) "Indissociable d'un abonnement Citycable TÚlÚvision"

So, I'm also not sure which way to go..

Cheers, B.

I was forced to go with Swisscom because my apartment is in an old building and didn't have the right wiring for Citycable. So keep that in mind as well.

Re: Broadband Lausanne?

we are just getting City Cable installed next week.
our apartment came with the older connection already, they just have to update it with the newer internet connector. This is done for free (or I think it is, that is what it says on the website).
Afterwards we are getting the middle range internet package 6000/500kps), for 30f, plus the cost for the TV which is another 30. With that, if you have a newer television (there is some requirement for which kind, I cannot remember off the top of my head), you will have 100 channels provided with that. If you have an older model, you get 40 channels.

They also provide a package for phone, TV and Internet for 45 I think but the internet is the slowest connection they offer.
