Connecting Sony DVD HDD Recorder to Swisscom STB??

I have a Sony DVD recorder with Hard drive and built in digital receiver that we bought with us from the UK.

Is it possible to connect this to my Swisscom STB and record programmes and use its built in tv guide system etc. In UK you could watch one channel on TV on digital and record another via the Sony recorder.

We have the Swisscom HDTV box and use the wireless HDTV kit as our router is not near the TV to connect.

Any ideas would be helpful or if not looks like we will subscribe to Swisscom TV Plus and record that way.

I hope someone can help me out,

Many thanks,

Chris Mills

Re: Connecting Sony DVD HDD Recorder to Swisscom STB??

Having thought about this, I think that this is near impossible, as the DVD recorder picks up the signal from the TV aerial and then determines the EPG.

Swisscome TV is IPTV, therefore a different kettle of fish.....you have a HD Recorder on the Box, so that is what we use as a video when necessary,

I have managed to connect the DVD recorder to the Swisscom box to video off the Swisscome box.....takes a bit of time, but can be doen via a SCART lead.

Hope that this helps.

Re: Connecting Sony DVD HDD Recorder to Swisscom STB??

We have just hooked up Swisscom in the same way, but I can't figure out how to record from the TV using the Sony Hard drive. Did you figure this out? I can play DVDs and play what we have already recorded and brought with us from the UK, but I don't know how to connect the Swisscom box and the Sony DVD hard drive. Any advice really appreciated, as all the english programs are on really late!

Re: Connecting Sony DVD HDD Recorder to Swisscom STB??

Funny this thread has just been started as I had exactly the same question regarding my Sony DVD recorder/Hard Drive brought from the UK.

I'm in Zug considering WWZ for my TV supply options. From my very basic German, I've worked out that you can buy a STB from them with the facility to record is a whopping 790CHF!! I'm reluctant to cough up so much when I already have a DVD/Hard Disc recorder.

My machine is in storage at the mo, so can't work it out from memory, but was wondering if it's possible to re-route the signal from the STB to the DVD recorder/Hard Drive, then on to the TV ie instead of it having a basic aerial signal from an aerial on the roof, simply have the signal from the Swisscom (or WWZ) STB?
