Should I keep my US Iphone 4 or should I sell it and buy a Euro iPhone?

I just upgraded my Iphone 3Gs and got the Iphone 4, and it is a bit cheaper made feeling in the palm of my hand, but the "folders" and "cam-chat" is amazing!... I already jailbroke the phone and signed up for the International plan here in Texas. I know with my jailbroken 3gs I could use the "Skype App" for calling and receiving calls in Bern last summer, as well as receiving text messages and browsing the internet. My plan only charged me .99 cents a minute after the 1st minute and free texting. My incoming calls were all free...my downloading was a bit steep at $15 for pretty much each app if I could not find wifi. I spoke to my friends in Texas from Bern using wifi and the "Skype App" and wasn't charged a dime. Well sorry to ramble off...but my plan is $120 total a month....not sure yet if the Iphone(4) works in Europe yet but I'm sure it does cause my Iphone 2G,3G, and 3Gs all worked and with the jailbroken part secure I was also able to use european sim cards...Should I keep the phone and USA plan of $120 base plus extracharges for downloading?!? or should I buy a new Iphone in Switzerland and sign up with Sunrise,Swisscom or Orange and just be done with it?!?

Much help on this matter would be highly appreciated

One a side note.... If its cheaper to buy a new Iphone 3Gs and go with a Swiss phone provider then I will go ahead and sell my Iphone4 here because I heard they are sold out till at least mid July and I could sell it and pay for much better things for the move down here

Are there any plans like in the USA with unlimited sms/ enough "Safari surfing" and App downloading/ and at least 600 minutes for under $120? And should I keep the Iphone4 or should I sell it and just get a 3GS?

....some Swiss friends told me the 3GS works best right now with European Jailbreak software and the Iphone4 is not yet and will not have Jailbreak out for at least another year.

iPhone4 is already jailbroken: read here
iPhone4 has an antenna problem: read here and here
There is no such thing as a "bucket of minutes" with your monthly plan in Switzerland. You pay per call. Sunrise has a plan with unlimited calling inside their network, but only about 30% of Switzerland uses Sunrise. Actually, all the operators do have "unlimited calling inside Switzerland" but the package costs around 150 CHF or so (see Swisscom's "Be Free" 170 CHF/month) You can get "unlimited" (read: 5GB then throttled) data for about 20-30 CHF/month.

Given all the restrictions with the iPhone, if you plan to travel, I'd ditch it and get something more "open". By "open" I mean an unlocked phone, and anything except Apple and BlackBerry. Android or Symbian would be a good choice.

What would that change?
Data-Roaming charges would still apply.
Or do you want to buy a pay-as-you-go SIM-card for every country you go through?
That would make it difficult for somebody to actually reach you, if he doesn't know in which country you are.
AFAIK, the cheapest option (apart from buying SIM-cards) for data is to buy time at WIFI-hotspots.
Ideally, there would be an offline-version of Google-Maps (because, that's what one is really missing) ....
If you have a contract (Orange, Swisscom), you can buy international "data-traffic" in advance for a (vastly) reduced price (in comparison to the vastly overinflated original price...)

That's a plan I should look into! 30% of Switzerland is still a could amount of people and I keep having friends tell me its a great service for the phone but not the best customer service, but with unlimited calling I guess I could sacrifice good service!

Thanks for the information EF

hey andi, i assume your one of the younger folks, so if your under 26, i can recomend the swisscom deals for the under 26 year old: http://www.swisscom.ch/res/u26/mobil...?languageId=en
i have one of these, i pay 45 bucks for 100 text, 500 mb and unlimited calls on landlines and swisscom mobile (text messages arent important, as you have another 500 free over internet, so you have like 600). as this is quite a good offer, 90 % of my friends have a swisscom plan, so i never pay more than around 55.
if you go with a swisscom plan, you pay maybe 250-350 max for the new iphone 4, so you could sell your at&t iphone in the states and get a new one over here.

Man thats perfect! Thanks....When I get older can I still keep the same deal such as in Texas we have grandfather clauses...I had a student discount for my car insurance in Texas and then when I finished school they never charged me more...
